Paleo?

Have they figured out how to clone dinosaurs and are now using grade-d dino meat?  Seems like a step up.

Dinos were all gone by the paleolithic era. There was bitching megafauna all over though, like mammoths and gigantic sloths and beavers and such.

nah, not really.  Momo is right.  It's staying away from unhealthy oils and fats, simple carbs and processed proteins for the most part.

It's not just "eat bacon! rawr!"  It's more delicate than that.  Eat uncured bacon without nitrites bb.  Paleo is quite dainty and not as masculine as most think.

Yeah, paleo is feminine as fuck.

I had a pizza made out of cauliflower, which I spent an hour making in the kitchen earlier with cheese that I bought at a farm, little girly tomatoes I grew on my windowsill etc (yes i know im not really supposed to be eating cheese, I only have it once a month and it's not really my enemy anyway)

No dairy was consumed during the paleolithic era, so it's not really paleo. But i'm more concerned with the spirit of paleo, so i'm being sensible and just staying away from grains, dumb carbs, salt, sugar, dumb oils, lemurs etc. Been losing weight like mad but im not really sure if it's the exercise or diet, i say both.

I also eat 80%+ dark chocolate once a week, because it has more benefits than not.

Sweet potatoes and nuts! hmm

Yeah, those are paleo items that fattens one up nicely, sweet potatoes has more carbs than regular potatoes too last I checked. I'm also cutting carbs in conjunction with paleo so my diet is likely very diff from yours

This is where the stupid comes in with the whole paleo thing. Nothing against a balanced diet, but the reasoning behind this one is so - woo woo.

It's like the literal word of the bible thing, if you are following it you're doing it wrong. Follow the spirit, buy raw foods dont buy pre mixed or processed crap.  think even just that is a great win for most folk.

I follow a two hand rule when im unsure. I'll explain :- Has the product passed through more than two different companies/grocers/plants before reaching me? If yes, it can fuck off. I'm lucky to be in the middle of farm lands so I can buy direct from farmers, or first hand from farmers markets, or second hand from some grocers who source from companies that deal with farmers. It's when you get to chit like people catching the crap that fell off the barrel after the third guy down the line has already molested it that it becomes really worrisome, but thats the standard for most.

Even if first hand, I'm also not gonna buy chit like corn fed animals, it's just about becoming more aware of what you eat.

Thats what people preach (and thats how im doing it) but a lot of people I know and see commenting around the net are still using the same vegetable oils, salt and butter. It's an amazing sight really, watching people getting worked up over grass fed beef when they still put the rest of that shit on top of it.

Salt and butter are paleo. Vegetable oil isn't.

Your version of paleo (no cheese, no salt, no butter) isn't paleo. It's masochism.

Salt is paleo, yes but what I'm saying is people over indulge in things because it's paleo. I am still firmly within the paleo framework, but im not going crazy with salty foods etc like i see some people do 'cause it's paleo'. There are more considerations to healthy eating than just is it paleo, and this is something a lot of people miss. Plenty of overusing foods that will fuck their blood pressure sooner rather than later, some not all.

Butter(dairy) really isnt but again, like I said spirit of.

fuck following any diet too strictly.  it's easier to learn about effects of different foods and then pick your poisons so that you don't drive yourself insane.  I can't believe we went here in a taco bell thread and I helped push it in this direction.
