Since some of you guys know me
« on: July 14, 2014, 06:19:24 AM »
I posted this on gaf to see if anyone had some ideas.  Posting it here because some of you know me IRL in case anything strange happens (god that creeps me out just writing that):

Ok, so today two things happened to me:

 1) In the afternoon, I was waiting for my fiancé to get ready to go for a drive. She was in the bathroom, door open curling her hair (which takes like 20 mins). I was outside in the living room, not visible from there. I heard what sounded like really quiet singing/humming/music. I couldn't really pinpoint where it was from because it was really low until I realized she must be humming/singing. But the thing is she never hums/sings and is deathly afraid of singing because she has high anxiety. I didn't mention it or make a big deal of it.

 2) Late at night she took a shower and I was in bed. I thought I her a conversation and just thought it was the neighbors. Then I definitely heard voices from the locked bathroom door. I went over and it was hard to make out because she was drying her hair with a loud hair dryer, but it sounded like she was having a conversation from one side. A word or phrase every few seconds. This creeped me out so I knocked on the door and she didn't answer, but the talking stopped completely. I knocked again and no answer and figured she couldn't hear the knocking over the hair dryer and waited until she was done. I asked her about it and she was creeped out and said she didn't say anything. Then I told her about #1 earlier in the day and she was really creeped out and says she never sings/hums and never would.

This is...creepy? Otoh, she's on a lot of medications, has a huge wealth of psychological problems, is often sleep deprived and today was really out of it, moody because her PMS was at her worst on top of sleep deprevation.

Only non-ghost related explaination could come up with was she was falling asleep slightly while doing mundane tasks she does daily like hair curling, shower, hair drying that just require standing still and she was sleepwalking/talking in her micro-sleep. She does talk in her sleep sometimes. She moves around a TON in her sleep and often wakes up in weird positions like being horizontal across the bed.

 There's also a couple of other creepy things that have happened in the last two weeks though which are kind of...uncomforting;

#3 - About two weeks ago, she was moving in with me and we'd emptied her apartment and moved out a month+ ago, but her dad was going over daily to dismantle the furniture and sell it. One day he calls and is freaked out and asks if we came by the place. We say no, we haven't been in weeks since we emptied it. He says he was there the night before and everything was normal and today he came in the locked apartment and a hanger of clothes (which we didn't even realize a hanger was still left) had been emptied with the clothes tossed all around the living room floor. Our only non-ghost rational explanation for this was a maintenance person with a key went in and went through the clothes hanger to search for any hidden valuables.

#4 - About two weeks ago I noticed hard deep red fingerprint marks in my fiances back one day. She has a bad injury from a car accident and that same area is where it hurts the most chronically. We just assumed in her sleep she was clawing at it really hard because it was bothering her. Still, it never happened before and hasn't happened since, so it seemed weird at the time.

#5 - She's been waking up the last few weeks with sore arms/legs and bruises on arms/legs. We chalked this up to her moving around a ton in her sleep and hitting her arms and legs on the hard nightstand.

#6 - This is a weird one. We got a bunch of Ikea furniture delivered last week and it sat in a huge stack. I have a vague memory (wasn't paying a ton of attention) that one day I thought about building the first item on top, and I tried but I couldn't move it because it was the giant dresser unit and ridiculously heavy. I couldn't even get it off the stack and gave up on the idea. Also I thought the picture and description of the item was facing on the left side. Over the weekend I came home one day to see my fiancé building the small lighter bench and I asked her she got it out from under the heavy dresser unit. She was confused and said the bench was the top item and it was pretty light. I was weirded out a bit and checked for the dresser and it was the 2nd unit from the top...with the picture of the dresser and description facing the right side. She says she didn't move it and couldn't have because it was so heavy. I chalked it up to mis-remembering which item was on top and which side the item description was on because it'd been a few days and I hadn't been paying a ton of attention at the time. Though it's odd because I remember wanting to try to start building and the top item being too heavy to take the top box off and open it up and start. The bench was still medium heavy, but not like a dresser unit.

#7 - This is more normal, but my fiancé tends to remember her dreams and describe them. A few times she's had a sleep paralysis type dream where she wakes up in bed and sees what she thinks is me in the doorway, then she lays down and feels a hand on her but it's not mine and freaks out and wakes up.

#8 - two nights ago she told me she had a more detailed version of this dream. This was after we'd talked about some of the above stuff and she'd been creeped out so that probably played into it, but she remembered the cold hand on her and turning and seeing the person and being able to describe their features as a face she didn't know, red-hair, older, glasses, a little overweight.

On their own, these are all little things with logical explanations. But we've been together for two years now and living together for 2 months and there'd been nothing weird or spooky in our lives (besides hearing her tell me about the sleep paralysis dream once or two) and now suddenly all the above has happened in a span of two weeks. I'm a logical person and don't really believe in superstition or ghosts or possession or anything, but I gotta say I'm finding it a little hard to fall asleep after hearing singing/humming in the day and words/phrases just now from the bathroom and my fiancé is not aware of any of it and the door was locked this time and I was out of view earlier so I can't visually confirm it.

 Yeah.....

ps. I haven't really posted since that last thread with my fiancé because I didn't feel up to explaining everything that happened afterwards, but we're still together and she's doing better, at least mentally, as long as she isn't possessed by ghosts or anything :\

Is this some elaborate joke?

nope, 100% all that happened and she's not in on it or anything.

re: video...I've seen that movie, no thanks >_<  I definitely think it's some sort of sleep walking/talking from sleep depravation and drug side effects.

I thought you guys broke up? Good to hear you're still together.

The obvious explanation would be that she'd talking to herself and clawing in her sleep. Dunno about the furniture but maybe she moved it. Or maybe there's someone else in the house.

As far as singing/humming and talking to herself, she probably does that all the time when nobody is around.

But the thing is she never hums/sings and is deathly afraid of singing because she has high anxiety. I didn't mention it or make a big deal of it.

She is humming or singing, or your neighbour was humming or singing loud in enough for you to be able to hear it in your house/apartment.

See my answer to incident 1. It's possible she's amnesiac or denying it for X reason in the event that she was the one singing/humming. For that matter, maybe you're hallucinating?

Only non-ghost related explaination could come up with was she was falling asleep slightly while doing mundane tasks she does daily like hair curling, shower, hair drying that just require standing still and she was sleepwalking/talking in her micro-sleep. She does talk in her sleep sometimes. She moves around a TON in her sleep and often wakes up in weird positions like being horizontal across the bed.

That sounds like a reasonable explanation. Sounds like she's sleep humming then.

Our only non-ghost rational explanation for this was a maintenance person with a key went in and went through the clothes hanger to search for any hidden valuables.

Or maybe he got memory problems, or your GF did go over on her own to empty it, or maybe it was emptied at some point in the past.

She probably was clawing herself in her sleep.

#5 - She's been waking up the last few weeks with sore arms/legs and bruises on arms/legs. We chalked this up to her moving around a ton in her sleep and hitting her arms and legs on the hard nightstand.

She might have certain physiological conditions that makes her prone to bruising, I recall her having a bunch of health problems so maybe that's the case.

Though it's odd because I remember wanting to try to start building and the top item being too heavy to take the top box off and open it up and start. The bench was still medium heavy, but not like a dresser unit.

Sounds like you are getting things confused, and created a creepier scenario post-event.

Yeah, pretty standard sleep paralysis dream, and does suggest that she might be mentally exhausted.

Yeah, see #7. Sleep paralysis "experiences" can be really detailed, or she might be filling in the details of a vague events.

 Yeah.....

Mental & physical exhaustion makes you see and hear things. And the two of you have been going through shit that would make even the toughest duck exhausted.

Actually I may really be hallucinating.  I got hit in the head on Saturday night and my head was bleeding slightly.  That would freak me out if I'm hearing voices/singing that isn't there holy shit.  Next time if I hear something like that I'll record it with my phone.

Anyhow, after I woke up this morning felt pretty embarrassed about this whole thread thing and train of thought and yeah, there's no ghosts it's just rational logical stuff.  I dunno, just got spooked when I heard the voices we couldn't explain at like 1am right when I was about to go to sleep.  Didn't sleep until about 4-5am.
