As a mind excercise, the closest thing I can think of is maybe Alan Wake. I liked Alan Wake. I would give it maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10. It's not an amazing game. But the universe was well conceived imo. It was "cinematic". It was weird. I also see why somebody could absolutely think that game sucked for certain reasons or how the flaws it had detracted enough for it to not be a good experience.

You can have an interesting discussion when your approach for arguing very subjective things isn't like you are arguing the laws of science.

GAF tries to treat this shit like it's science. And that's why it generally has some of the worst discussions going at all times.

My dad is also really enjoying drive club. But he's at an age now, where he wants his game as bareboned as possible, just so he understands the menus.

I still remember posting in the Ass Creed 3 OT, trying to start up discussion on exactly why that game was so terrible. People were more interested in just bashing the game wholesale, doing one time drive by posts or, on the opposite side, whining about the thread being too negative instead of attempting to highlight the positives. With GAF, its really rare to find a good middle ground to talk about the nuances of why something is good or bad, so I just stopped trying. Its either a dog pile like what the Order is going though or a hugbox where you get told to leave if you aren't head over heels for a video game.

I don't remember seeing any of those cats in racing game threads before DC, and I don't expect to see them in any after. I guess it really must have struck a chord with people that don't normally play racers.

Well Gaf wanted game writers to be 'open and honest' with these 'AAA' game reviews, and we've seen them do just that. First with Driveclub and now with the Order.

Also the sheer cheek of some of SonyGAF to try to and rewrite history and compare The Order to Ryse now is especially sweet. Ryse was always a decent game, it was just on the 'wrong' system for a lot of those jealous idiots so it got shitted on.

from my perspective. Shadow of Rome, even with its forced stealth sections, is still the best Roman era game you can get.

Besides Rome Total War or some shit.

the problem is nobody in the world wants burgers anymore. it's such a shame, i really like burgers but apparently that's a crime now.

either way, it sounds like something i'd enjoy even if it's not in vogue anymore and i won't be cancelling my reservation.
