For what it's worth (probably very little), having been around for the conversation about why we were doing this, it wasn't spearheaded at all by EviLore. His involvement was just agreeing that it sounded like a good idea after several mods cooked up the proposal. And as the mods don't see a cent of any ad revenue or even understand how it works at all, the rationale behind it wasn't about generating revenue.

Of course, this isn't meant to convince you that the policy is awesome. I understand why some don't care for the change. However, I do want to note that the people defending it on the GAF thread aren't doing so out of a desire to ensure that EviLore can take more vacations in 2015.

Meh, I'd say that's the case for most threads on gaf. At least the OTs could be useful as opposed most other threads where it's one group of people just shouting down everyone else. But that's none of my business.
