A big problem I've got with the current minority social order on gaf is that when certain hot button issues pop up, rather than eloquently explain why they're offended about things, they immaturely become vindictive when people dare ask why they're offended. Like that DYnasty post I linked, he's mad that the guy doesn't understand why he's offended, but he can't and won't articulate why it's a problem for him. He even said that he's not offended by the actual cosplay despite his activity in the thread. Lexi had a similar thing in the Sarah Silverman thread. She told me she wasn't offended by the ad at all, but it was the posters inside the thread she didn't like. So the threads turn into one giant cocktail of back and forth as minorities act offended but don't say why the fuck they're offended in the first place, people telling minorities they should/shouldn't be offended, and mods like Besada (hi) and Mumei protecting the minority order or some shit. It's like, what the fuck is even the point? Discussion goes in circles and it leads a destination where there's no point in even trying to attempt an actual means of dialogue.
I mean, twice in like one week and we have two threads that feature two minority groups I'm a part of and I have no fucking idea why people are offended at all. It's like they're operating under privilege to, where they're like,"it's the way it is, don't question my views" or something. Like, just talking about it is taboo in itself.
Am I alone in this? Has GAF always been like this and I'm just noticing it because I'm older, or has discussion gotten that much worse?
