i just don't get how you can make the hobbit boring. the hobbit is the complete opposite of boring. it's full of adventure and fun and laughs and shorties smoking weed out of pipes and dragons. and here we are, with two boring ass hobbit movies.

the war wasn't really that great in the hobbit and focusing on it is blatant cash grab considering it's a very very small section of the book. it feels like they're doing it just to have something lotr-esque so they can justify the fact that the trilogy has sucked, so they bring in the clueless fanboys and girls.

At worse, ASOIAF stans bore you with paragraphs detailing why ASOIAF is cool to them. Meanwhile posters with Walter White avatars tend to defend rape and misogyny. Pretty clear cut decision here, fellas.

I haven't seen any of the Hobbits and don't intend to anytime soon. Why a <400 page book needed to become nearly 8 hours of film, three movies...no, I can't cosign that shit. At best I could understand two movies - one for the journey, another for the battle. But even that seems like a cash out.

I saw a trailer for the new one during football yesterday...every shot was 90% CGI. No thanks. LOTR was great in part due to how real the world looked. Great costumes, amazing set pieces, the beautiful New Zealand country side. I read that all the goblins in The Hobbit are CGI...what the fuck. I also heard the actor who played Gandalf cried at one point due to a scene not having any actors in it - he had to act by himself, and the other actors were then pasted into the scene with CGI. sigh...

Worse, they want to adapt The Silmarillion. That's a stupid fucking idea, it's just not fit for film. I'd be down for an animated adaption that just goes through each part with narration...because I'm a nerd like that. But the idea of a Hollywood adaption trying to turn that shit into a coherent film with a beginning-middle-end...no.

It's because Peter Jackson has to cut scenes to show New Zealand Middle Earth a lot. I also don't recall the Hobbit having a lot action/fight scenes. But

I can't fault him for making some changes though. A lot of people probably wouldn't read the book so if they experience most of the story-beats, I'm fine with it.
