i'm not surprised because it's prime "Citizen Kane of Gaming" bait.  There are tons of people out there trying to be like "LOOK MOM/GF/WIFE/FRIENDS, MY VIDEO GAME HOBBY IS A MEANINGFUL CONSUMPTION OF MEDIA!!!11  LOOK OUT BOOKS AND MOVIES!" and they put this kind of game on a pedestal.

an honest 1-10 scale would put it more 8 or 9.  the gameplay is solid, but not anywhere near 10 material.  I'd put the gameplay at 7, with the non-gameplay elements bumping it up a point or 2.

i just feel the game gets more of a bad rap due to some of its fans being massive cocksuckers rather than the merits of the game itself (in what it does or doesn't do).

Or at least the proportion seems to be heavily skewed to the former.

Thank you for spoiling how many chapters the game has. That's one of my biggest pet peeves for spoilers. I hate knowing how many chapters there are, I like to not know when I'm getting near the end of a game.

It's a super homogenized game mish mashing last gen concepts with graphics tech that's basically hitting the check list for every other post-Gears TPS like Dark Sector and dozens more forgetful games without anything that made Gears good in the first place (Fast paced, lots of variety in the action, didn't fuck around with Cutscenes too much)

But then they should have stopped after the GOAT was released

I think I had more fun with Blood on the Sand than I did Last of Us, even if objectively the latter is much better. Blood on the Sand was much better than anyone expected, but really could've used with more of an enemy variety though, I got really pissed off the 3rd time I fought that annoying-ass chopper.

well, ppl that have autism tend to look at the parts of something, to break it down. that's exactly what he's doing with that website, breaking down games and categorizing them by features. I personally think the ideas awesome bc I do this mentally with games all the time.

there's a wiki-style website about tropes that does something similar already, just less organized.

there have been a few threads questioning hype...but they get sort of overrun by people who think the OP is attacking their pre-release excitement. The people who want the hype want it badly, and the people who aren't emotionally invested in a video game don't care enough to police the hype or attempt to change it.
