Non-progressive opinions of all types get banned these days, yet Metaphoreus is allowed to monologue daily about how millions of people should lose their health insurance this year, which would be statistically certain to kill a few thousand of them, and there's no ban for him in sight.

You get banned for disagreeing that the state should cover sex reassignment surgery for a death row inmate, but fuck lower middle class people with heart disease.
I had gotten tired of it a while ago and was just scrolling past it (because who gives a fuck?), but now I think I'm going to post every King v Burwell article I come across.

Maybe I'll actively seek them out.

He's not exactly wrong in the last tweet in the OP. People can say "I'm offended" and that's all well and good. But having to self-censor himself because a certain group of people may possibly be "triggered" is dumb and stifles speech.

Quote from: Opiate;153098702
This person seems to be suffering from the time tested conflation of "You can't say this" with "you can say this, but everyone will think you're a jerk."

I mean, there is no law against me calling everyone I meet a stupid fat idiot. I'm allowed to do that. I just won't have many friends and most people will rightly consider me a jerk.

Exactly what I wanted to say. He's free to say what he wants and people shouldn't go "yo that triggered me" because well... that silences some speeches that may/may not need to be said.

*backspaces because saying "he has a semi-point" will get you banned even if you don't agree with the entire thing*

That's not to say he (probably) isn't a piece of shit, but having to stumble over your "speech" to avoid offending as many people as possible kinda... flies in the face of actually having speech, you know?

Another issue I have with him is that his entire shtick, and the lawsuit itself, consists entirely of disingenuous grammar trolling. But he acts like his grammar trolling is the most important thing in the world. He knows fuck all about public policy and doesn't care either. The entire crux of the matter, to this scumbag idiot, is which pronoun is used in paragraph 100 vs paragraph 357, and whether or not a noun is capitalized in paragraph 200. He dodges all policy questions and says he can't speculate on Congressional intent, but everyone knows damn well what the intent was.

He is an absolute scumbag in every sense of the word, and has a vastly overinflated sense of his own abilities and importance.

Even him getting banned wouldn't be very satisfying, because he would still exist somewhere in the world.
Dude, he's a law student. Their world is entirely built around that kind of thing because it's what they do constantly*. And most of the Court's ruling will be addressing those arguments even if to dismiss them.

It's sloppy drafting, so that's why he (and King) can even make the argument. His position is going to be in Alito or Scalia's dissent. Because there is a legal school of thought that speculating on Congressional intent OUTSIDE of the legislative process isn't proper. And in this case, the process argument is the weak spot because of Congressional incompetence. If there's no drafting error like this, there's absolutely zero argument in this regard. If the issue had been noticed back when Democrats held the House and Senate they could have easily amended the law to be blatantly clear. The policy argument should be irrelevant, as Roberts stated in the first ACA case.

And I say that with you already knowing my positions on the ACA.

Technomancer is kind of a pussy ass bitch, tbh.
And he's weird with language. I don't know if English is his primary language.

*Find a progressive or socialist or liberal or libertarian or communist 1 or 2L and they're going to argue the same way on topics, endless technicalities of language.

The executive branch has pretty broad powers when it comes to interpreting laws, you'd think a minor drafting error would be pretty smallbore compared in a historical context.

I understand the guy's argument, I just disagree. I don't think he wants people to get their healthcare shitcanned. Does the Cato Institute and the architects of the lawsuit want to see that? Sure. They clearly don't give a shit and are doing this as a hail mary attempt to shitcan the law and destroy a piece of Obama's legacy.

That's usually with delegated powers that are more ambiguous, the ironic part of this case (and parts of the law) is how specific Congress was in the details of their delegating authority.

And it's in part because of their goal, they were trying to get around these potential state challenges, which they bombed with Medicaid, especially since states have tremendous interest in their insurance regulatory setups.

The exchanges from the start were really a dumb idea fraught with an endless array of potential problems. In a slightly more ideal world, should have traded every line regarding those in the law for some kind of Medicare for All. And then pressed that since Medicare is popular. And then used those 60 seats better.

Second post I saw in the thread was somebody speculating that his (and others) transphobia was due to a secret attraction to transwomen.  :lol

Not to belittle violence, but this seriously can't be accurate:
Quote from: ShockingAlberto
I feel this statistic is really important: The risk for a trans woman being murdered by a cis person is one in twelve. It leaps up dramatically to one in eight if they're non-white.

And what that has to do with a guy getting hired to write for a website, I don't know? Like a third of this thread is about murdering transsexuals when the guy just tweets that he refuses to recognize their true gender?

All while Metaphoreus walks free.

There are a lot of trans people getting murdered. It's pretty terrible.
Oh, I know, I just can't believe the rate is that high. I can't believe the rate of any cohort could be that high just from simple ballparking population statistics. And it looks like there's no support for it based on the very first link I read from a google search: http://parkthatcar.net/2013/11/20/can-we-stop-quoting-the-1-in-12-statistic-please/

lol at a comment:
Quote
1 out of 12 is wrong, undoubtedly, but I think it is a good number to throw out until somebody actually does some fucking stats.

...

As a transwoman, I can’t even watch fucking CBS. There is going to be some violence inducing joke at our expense on every station every movie every media representation has been flawed. This culture has transwomen primed for violence from every direction. The real wonder is that we are not getting wrangled up and gassed,
Sure there's no data support for the stat and it's illogically constructed but until we know, let's use it!

Yeah, 1 in 12 obviously can't be correct, or else we'd have a whole lot more murders on our hands. I think part of the problem, too, is that it isn't to know exactly how much of the US population is trans, and how many murders get reported as such.

If the average killed in the US is 20 ~ 25 a year, though, then we're off to a "great" start for 2015, and we're already up to seven so far.

I think (and it's probably been shown in surveys) a lot of people overestimate how much murder (and crime in general) actually happens. I mean it's not like the news lists all the people not murdered each day.

And rates are so low for certain types of murders that you can't tell any trend or not even when you make assumptions like 100% of them were for X reason. Especially when some of that is also reporting based, 30 years ago would trans murders have even been reported that way and tied into a growing social awareness movement that doesn't have the internet? Look at how all sorts of gay issues were treated in the 1980s.

Spending the majority of your waking non-work hours on the internet is a pretty good way to piss away your life too.

In hindsight, my biggest age 12-24 regret was spending too much time online.  Even if I devoted a small fraction of that time into something useful, I'd be a lot further along than I am now.

I started a trial month of Gamefly, primarily to check out The Order. I was so excited to see it shipped on the 19th, a day before release. I live about 4 hours away from the closest distribution center, which is in Los Angeles. Thought for sure I would get it on release day, maybe saturday in worst case scenario. Here we are, sunday morning and I do not have the game. Now I have to wait till Monday to see if it arrives, as obviously there is no mail on sunday.

How exactly can they get away with this and people still pay for it? I feel like I am getting ripped off and I havent even put any money into it.

It should be legal to sever your genitals if you want it done, and godspeed, but normal people who don't want to do that don't need a special term.

They do when you're having conversations where being very specific and clear about what type of person you're talking about is important.

Using "cis" in everyday conversations, however, tends to get silly, especially by people on Tumblr and Twitter.

Has anyone else ever experienced a rectal scent just as your partner leans over?

How do you approach that situation? Do you ignore it and keep going? Do you stop and say something? Do you finish and say something after?

This has happened to me numerous times now. And I wasn't sure if it's a common occurrence or a cleanliness issue. The first time it happened to me it was jarring but I fought through it. The smell is particularly pungent later in the day or very early in the morning I've found. Am I going crazy GAF?

The human body isn't always pretty but catching a whiff of loud poo stank...that would fuck me up  :holeup

happened to my boy once in college. we're sitting in the living room watching MNF and suddenly we hear him bust out of his room and start puking in the bathroom.

we mute the game and look down the hallway like  :what
he comes out the bathroom after a few mins and starts screaming at this chick "GTFO" "don't ever come back" "nasty ass" etc.

we never saw that chick again. shame too cause she would bring blunts for everybody whenever he asked her.

Straight dudes that have sex with other dudes are the worst.  :yuck
As someone who has had lots of sex with straight men, they actually do exist and retain their sexuality label. Curiousity doesn't suddenly shove you to the other side of the fence, or even make you go 50/50.
