Fantasy Premier League 2014/2015
« on: July 21, 2014, 08:27:43 AM »
Guys, after the great success that was the betting for the WC2014 I thought you might want to try your hand at something bigger :)

http://fantasy.premierleague.com/

I made a league for us so we can all compete!

Basically you have 100 million quid to spend on a team and can do transfers etc.

So make your team and let me know so I can send you the code for our league.

There is no draft because this is a worldwide league and because there is no draft thingy in Europe, so Ive set up a small league for us, but you will also be able to see yourself pitched against everyone else in the world playing :)

Also what if you pick Toure but Man City is crap this year and you wont be able to sell him until Xmas when the transfer window is open again?

They used to advertise this sort of thing in those annual NFL season preview magazines back in the day, but kind of got crowded out by fantasy football (as we currently know it) once Yahoo/Sportsline/etc. made it easy for 12 dudes to make a league together.

Ok

Just seems so random with draft, cause you can't compare who has the best nose for it then

I'm still tweaking this team, need some Man U people cause I have a good feeling about them this year

It's the same idea of competing to see who can spot the best players (or players who will be productive this season).  The standard American thing is a small group of people, and no preset money values for the players.  You either have a draft, or an auction where everyone starts with the same amount of fake money.  Just in this case only one person in the league can get any particular player.

The setup is designed mostly for groups of friends, coworkers, anyone who might be inclined to shit-talk each other on a regular basis.

I was talking to it about another guy at work today, he won our office league last season betting on attack (because it's pretty difficult to build a defense based team, unless you have Roberto Carlos or something) my advice, go with people you believe to be good goal scorers from the mid and forward positions, chuck in some cheapish average but not embarrassingly bad players around them and you should end up top 3 in this league. Oh and if you notice a decent defender with a tendency to score, absolutely pounce on that motherfucker.

I've been thinking of taking a punt on Torres coming back into form. He was the best forward in the world not long ago in my opinion, he isnt old enough to be ruined yet, maybe in the next 2 seasons he hooks up a run fitting his talent :hitler

He wont get a chance to play though.

Im sticking to Bony and Giroud. Not too expensive but loads of points.
Had Bony last year too.

Got Chamakh as a dark horse sub for now, but Campbell might be smart too.

Himuro, think what Momo said makes sense. You can also sort players on the site by points they made last year to see whats up.

Bear in mine though that teams change so they may not have the same results as last year.

I mean Gerrard and Terry are both super high, but will gerrard be still hot after this season ended in so many downers and Suarez being gone?

Siiiign up guys, DC and me are already there.

You can still make free tranfsers for another 2/3 weeks so dont worry about picking the final team just yet.

nolan usually gives good value, but he's been on the decline and was a perma-gassed wreck in pre season. could barely go 20 minutes without needing a nice sit down and a biscuit.

pick up noble instead and save yourself a mill.

I'll certainly consider it. My midfield is probably the thing I'm considering tinkering around with the most.
