Bit in there about how he dressed up in his Mrs Doubtfire costume and went to a San Francisco sex shop to buy a dildo and some lube.

Seen so many people wondering how he could be depressed and a comedian and stuff elsewhere. Then someone linked this Cracked article and it was surprisingly better than I expected*, especially the Chris Farley part which I had never known: http://www.cracked.com/quick-fixes/robin-williams-why-funny-people-kill-themselves/

*Well, other than the writing style.

Cobra Starship music video (big L for me there, i know)
Hand me that L, brother, had their albums since the first.

I was watching his guest appearance on Whose Line is it Anyways very recently. He had me in tears. :fbm
My favorite joke in that one is "I have a career, what the hell am I doing?"

I hate when people scapegoat the 'anonymity of the internet' for why people can be awful. I've seen plenty of people be awful with their real names/faces attached to the message.

Like on Facebook. It's just as bad there sometimes as anywhere else. People can be downright awful and it's a depressing thing to see, especially directed at somebody who just lost their dad to suicide.

Anonymity only multiplies what's there, in number and tone. Some lunatics just don't give a fuck no matter what.

I recall his hairy ass totally full frontal naked in at least two movies, Fisher King and World's Greatest Dad. He was also pretty damn naked in Moscow on the Hudson.

The funny thing is I've never seen Dead Poet's society. It seemed like the kind of movie that would irk me so I always kind of avoided it (It's probably great. Sometimes I will irrationally hate a movie I've never seen just because I'm an idiot). I've never seen Aladdin either.

When I think of Robin Williams I think of Good Morning Vietnam, World According to Garp, Good Will Hunting, & The Fisher King.

World according to Garp was one of the first movies we got on VCR so I watched that bitch dozens of times.

Ferngully is weirdly, indefensibly, one of the few things I feel protectively nostalgic about.  Someone remakes that with Jack Black, Drake, and Jim Parsons (replacing Williams, Tone Loc, and Tim Curry as the rapping bat, rapping iguana, and gay smog monster respectively), and I'll be out of control ranting about how this new version betrays the spirit, sincerity, and ambition of the original.

I just learned Robin Williams did stand up for like 25 years.

What.

I hate to inform you of this, but he has recently passed way.

Apparently, Wife released a statement that Williams was still sober at the time, but suffering from depression. He was also in the early stages of Parkinson's but didn't want to release that to the public.

I wonder if our society will ever get to a place where assisted suicide will be legalized. Someone like Robin should have the option to kill himself in a more comfortable manner around professionals.

It's something I think about when I contemplate a future where I might contract a horrible condition.

The Fisher King was my favorite Williams role, and reading this makes complete and total sense in a sad way.

I don't know what stage he was at but it would be good if it wasn't a such a taboo subject that he could incorporate discussion about end-of-life decisions into whatever therapy (I assume) he was in. Bottling it up into a depressive mind is a recipe for disaster.

I watched Hook...well, tried to watch Hook last night. Hadn't seen it since I was a kid and man it hasn't aged well. Especially the cheesy 90s music in the beginning, before the traditional Williams score. Overall it was a lot more cheesy than I remembered, and some uninspired Spielberg direction.

A lot of the enjoyment I did find was due to nostalgia blasts. I don't remember the first time I saw Hook, but I definitely remember watching it many times on Christmas at my grandma's house. And watching the part about using your imagination to taste food really reminded me of the various smells and foods my grandma would make. Biscuits, eggs, grits, and grilled salmon patties in the morning...then for the next few hours the house would be full of the smells of spices as she cooked a HUGE pot of gumbo. And the smells of cookies and cakes throughout the day, but especially at night.

I watched part of Hook last night and still really enjoyed it.

My problem has been that watching all these Robin Williams movies has only made me notice how often death is a major theme in all his movies.
