Quantum Break Hype/Remedy Appreciation Thread
« on: August 15, 2014, 04:07:01 PM »
This is... the only next gen game I'm actually looking forward to. Maybe the only reason I might ever buy one of these consoles.

Remedy makes the kind of games I love. Short, focused, story-driven, scripted, great looking and, most of all, set in worlds that I can't wait to explore. (I realize that half of these sound like negatives, but they aren't to me. Who's got time for grinding for hours these days anymore. I'd rather pay 60 bucks for 5h of a great experience than a game that wastes my time.)

Alan Wake, despite all its flaws, was my favorite game of last gen. Max Payne 2 was my most replayed game of the generation before. So yeah, despite knowing that the TV stuff is probably going to be a disaster, I'm fucking hyped. Anyhow, enough incoherent rambling, here's some stuff:

8 minutes of gameplay

Some more info on an extended demo.

Love everything Remedy does. Day one. Alan Wake was my favorite game last gen too (double dipped on pc ontop of 360 LE) and Max Payne 2 a very important game to me. Give me more Remedy games starring a dude in a cool jacket plz.

6 more minutes of footage starting at around the 10 minute mark:

Gameplay seems familiar, but I fucking adore some of the ideas in the level design. Remedy are Gods, can't wait to see the ways they use the time stuff.

Loved Max Payne. Thought Alan Wake was pretty boring (not bad, just not for me) to where I haven't tried American Nightmare yet. Dunno how I feel about Quantum Break.

Right, smartass. I mean Remedy is half-and-half on their track record for me. Max Payne: Want more. Alan Wake: Eh, no thanks.

Quantum Break: ?????? It could go either way for me. The gameplay seems to be more Max Payne-style without the bullet time, which is "yes" territory for me. But if it's as repetitive as Alan Wake... no thanks.
