Music deserves its own thread like movies.

Nicki shows the world what an amazing butt looks like, I guess.

I like Gaga's new collab jazz album project.

The instrumentals are very generic, basic, and stereotypical of jazz so far. I can't say say they're particularly inspired or something I'd want to jam to from all the song previews I've heard. Despite that, I still think it works because of the excellent vocals on par by Bennett and Lady Gaga.

I'm glad that after FartFlop Gaga is experimenting and trying to find to find her own groove.

Good article on the matter:

soundcloud introducing ads. This likely means they will be harsher on copyright protection. yay.

via pitchfork: On August 26, Kate Bush will perform her first in a series of shows that mark her return to the stage after 35 years. Last night, the BBC told the story of Bush's life in a documentary called "The Kate Bush Story: Running Up That Hill". It's surfaced online and available to watch below.
The documentary chronicles Bush's history from "Wuthering Heights" to 2011's 50 Words for Snow. It features interviews with St. Vincent, Big Boi (of course), Bat for Lashes, John Lydon, Elton John, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Tricky, Neil Gaiman, Stephen Fry, and many others.

Gonna watch that documentary. Sadly, I don't think the tour's headed for Japan...

So, U2's brand-new Songs of Innocence album was a giveaway from Apple to its users, and some users apparently hate Bono so much that Apple had to provide a tool to remove the album from those users' libraries.

A friend thus twat:

If you want a vision of the future, imagine Bono singing into an Apple user's face - forever.

this review for kaka's latest ass 2 ass album has me in tears

Quote
It's the oldest trick in the book: Past-prime pop singer attempts to boost his or her relevance in the face of dwindling sales and hastily changing trends by commissioning the help of a hotter, more bankable artist. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's Cheek to Cheek is the latest product of such a collaboration—except I'm not referring to the octogenarian Bennett, who, after 60-plus years in the business, is selling more albums than ever before, but to Gaga, whose free-fall from the upper echelons of pop has been as precipitous as her rise was meteoric.

BTW, I'm really addicted to the latest song from FIRO:

Wilco's Jeff Tweedy new side project with his son - band name is Tweedy, album is Sukierae. It's pretty stripped down and low-key compared to Wilco but I like what I've heard so far.

Musicbore, should I cancel my backorder of Syro (which won't ship til at least December 1st) and order the new Arca? I don't know if I really like one better than the other yet, but my ingrained desire for immediate gratification paired with Aphex's recent dismissal of non-9/11 truthers as naive dumb dumbs is kinda pushing me in that direction

To keep a white woman from winning best rap record, they did the only thing they could and gave it to a white man instead.

It's a lot more raw than anything they've done in years. Pretty dope.
