I won't buy a beer if has "hop" anywhere in the name

:piss IPAs :piss2

i'm just talking about the stuff that looks like it's meant for 35 year olds wearing adventure time tshirts and listening to the heavy metal soundtrack  :yuck

I really hate all the "metal" influenced brewery logos, beer names and bottle art.

As for wine, I like malbecs, but I rarely ever drink the stuff anymore.

Heh, small hot sauce companies tend to do this too with their bottles. Though like both beer and hot sauce, I usually find the plainest, most minimal labels, usually have the best product. (Maine Beer Co :drool)

Btw this app is great for tracking the wines you try: https://www.vivino.com

Yeah I use Vivino. Helps me keep track of what I have cellaring and where I got it, too. "Oh god this is shit, where did it even come from?" *left here after a party* "oh."

Drank a bottle of Merlot from a nearby wine farm Saturday, my face turned into warm jelly, so good  :lawd

Then my friend tried to push some Shiraz on me  :gurl

Suffice it to say, we are no longer wine friends.

This is the first product from Kuvée, a young startup out of Boston. There are really two parts to it: the bottle, and the wine cartridge that fits inside it, slid in through an opening at its base.

Using the bottle's touchscreen, you can browse and purchase the other wines available through Kuvée. At launch, there are 48 wines from 12 wineries.

Preorders for the Kuvée Bottle begin today, with shipments beginning in October. At launch, the product will only be available in two states, California and Massachusetts (California is where Kuvée bottles its wine; Boston is where Kuvée is based).

So proud of my city today. :D

If you find Asti too sweet or too sorority sister (you sexist pig, even Esch drinks Riesling) or too Martini brand, Brachetto d'Acqui is a good substitute.

I actually tried it for the first time at the wine bar I was drunk posting from this weekend itt. Get out of my head, Charles. :lol

Anyway, when I was drinking it it struck me as being subdued for a white, but now that you tell me that it's a pairing wine I can definitely see that. The taste of it comes on as the wine is swallowed, not when you first take a sip like a Chardonnay.

Hmmm, I will look and see which one I had. Given where I was I assume it was the latter. (The place tries to be upscale.)

It seems to me that there are a lot of regional Italians that are reasonably priced, if you are waiting until you've #MadeIt. I really, really, really like vermentino and 30 for a bottle goes far in my dilettante experience.

Yeah, there's lots of fancier gruners that have extended lees aging and or barrel time to extract a lot of richness/texture.  It's a disgusting style in my opinion and the only gruners worth anything are the steel fermented liter bottlings.

Was out east at the vineyards with my girlfriend and her friends for her bday. Picked up a Late Harvest Gewurztraminer and some other bottles out there... Also tried a delicious white port whilst there.

I love Gewurztraminer. Can't say I've ever had a 'bad' bottle of it in all these years I've sampled different ones.

Had my first Vermentino today :dahell

This is the weirdest style of wine I've ever tried. I hated it on the first sip. It has this really bizarre mix of acidity and savoriness ??? But I kept trying more of it and it was interesting. Got this combination  herbal grapefruit flower thing going on that I didn't expect at all.

Actually pretty good with food. I don't see myself buying this a lot, but would get a more expensive / rated version if I had a particular meal in mind.

:yeshrug
Love a good vermentino.  Some of the best come out of Sardinia.  If that's your jam try some trebbiano as well.

I went to the "wine superstore" looking for txakoli today and even after dispensing with my blanket ban on New World wines I still had no luck finding a bottle. Why do we need aisles of pinot grigio while not offering a solitary txakoli? Lamestreamers. ::)
