The Evil Within ran really well, too, despite Bethesda hyping up those VRAM requirements.

I tried the demo finally after this and what, nooooooo.  If you don't mind 30fps then yeah you can run it at 2k-4k maxed looking all nice, but the game does not seem to work right at all with 60fps.  On my 980, even with 1080p, no AA it likes to hover around 52fps instead of 60fps with dips to the mid-40s.  And putting 4x AA doesn't even make a frame difference, still get ~52fps.  Feels stuttery >:(  Don't know what black magic they did to make it such a technical fuck up.

pc masters, just relax and don't do it, you'll be blowin' 4k, 60 fps gooey graphics loads in down rez console rectums by mid-'15

Hope this happens!  I got around to trying out 4k downsampling to 1080p the other day and ooooh boy does it look nice.  So freaking sharp.  I may actually pick up a second 980 next year to SLI and try to game at 4k.

yeah, the evil within demo ran terribly on my 560ti.  the card is getting old, and back then it was low-mid, but still.  it and a couple other games I held off on until I upgrade, soon, hopefully.

clowns, wait for dx12/mantle-optimized games. dx11 doesn't have efficient asymmetric gpu mp or performant deferred rendering. dx12 and mantle are LITERALLY console-style low level graphics apis -- with dx12, yer runnin' xbone's exclusive mode apis on vastly superior hardware.

I can't remember if mantle will be compatible with nvidia cards or I'm mistaking it for the variable refresh rate thing.  but I suppose dx12 will be bigger and the standard across amd and nvidia.

Messing around with Unity in 4k earlier was gorgeous.  This is with no AA, 4k using Nvidia's DSR with 33% downsmoothing.  (compression is from steam) Runs at about 12fps  :lol

So maybe 2015/6 will be the time to upgrade my 2011 laptop with the geforce 555 and i7.

Could be something to do with the higher framerate, since that wasn't even allowed initially [it was hard capped at 30 for about a month until Bethesda released a patch that go rid of the cap]. It ran decently on my 750ti, but I haven't tried it uncapped yet.
