I only use American for grilled cheese sandwiches. Cheddar is so much more versatile.

I'm a huge fan of cheese and I can honestly say I don't know what "American" cheese is.

I love all cheddars but I prefer a nice sharp cheddar. Blue cheese, mozzarella and brie is also extremely delicious.
