Was there an attract-mode on Doom 2? I feel like the first time I saw it, it was at a Fry’s or something, running automatically. I was amazed at the realism. It seems like a joke now, but that was some amazing stuff. And, later, playing against friends for hours at a time? Mind blowing.

yeah it looped some demos at the title screen.

first time I saw doom was on a friend's dad's next workstation. it was windowed, in black and white, and had no audio, but it was still the most amazing game I'd ever seen. that secret room where a giant pillar lowers down to reveal a fucking chainsaw, while out the windows you can see huge, alien mountains in the distance? that part BLEW MY FUCKIN MIND.

Too poor to afford a computer that could run it well. :cry

ha my parents computer was so shit that you had to run doom before it could boot up Windows to have enough ram, and you had to save before hitting every switch because there was a good chance it would crash the game. some of the bigger levels in doom 2 would run at like 3-5 fps.

to this day a shitty framerate doesn't bother me much because I got so used to it.
