Legend of Grimrock 2

Four characters. Grids. Real-time combat. Dungeons. Puzzles.

I think most people here played, or at least own, the original that came out back in 2012. That will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect in the sequel, because the core of the game hasn't really changed very much. However, just about everything else has. Rather than being confined to similar dungeon corridors filled with traps, puzzles, and monsters, the party is shipwrecked on a mysterious island that at times seems like it was ripped right out of the Myst series. Through nearly two hours, I've spent more time outside [on and around a beach and then inside a forest] than I have in underground dungeons, which gives the game a better sense of discovery and exploration. There's also more and a greater variety of puzzles, which lead to new locations and chests full of loot.

I'll admit that although I did like the original, spending all my time crawling through a dark dungeon ultimately didn't appeal to me all that much. The sequel rectifies that so far I've enjoyed it far more than I did the original. It's definitely worth getting.

It's much more open than Grim one and there's greater variety in just about everything (locations, classes, stuff, enemy movement patterns). Good game, go get it.

this is so good.  it's kinda amazing how much they've improved it by changing its structure.  add that puzzles, combat and everything are better.

yes (ending spoilers)

The final boss kinda sucked.  I thought there was a trick to it, like you kill his clones and his shield drops.  so I tried trapping him in a force field, kill those two and he'll still spawn more inside the forcefield.  eventually I realized you have to brute force him and it's pretty lame because it's not balanced well for close ranged fighters.  so chug buff potions, spam health and resurrection, and that's it.  the preceding fight(s) were more interesting encounters.

there are also a few obtuse puzzles and cheap encounters (teleporting you into a room of enemies) but overall the game is excellent.

Nah, I actually know where one is right now [down in the crystal caves], I just haven't done enough down there yet to get it.

Edit: And I meant for the fourth elemental sphere, the last one needed to get into the castle.

I never finished the original because of spiders. Don't judge me.
