One of my best friends is briefly back in town, the neighbor who is always out of town happened to be in town, so he fed us Johnny Walker Platinum and MacAllan 12 until we were waving our hands in the air like we just don't have a single fuck to give.

I've been doing some volunteer work and it's kinda lulzy how many stereotypes are doing so with me. By which I mean, the old punk rocker, the devout Christian who wants to help people instead of flipping out about two dudes kissing, et cetera.

Sounds like I need a more interesting persona, how else am I going to influence these kids if I don't have some misplaced sense of duty stemming from some fucked up background or hear the word of god shaming me every time I take a piss.

Don't forget various grandmas and even the occasional soccer mom.

A couple years ago we were coming up with events/movies to watch/etc and someone suggested an anime night, and also suggested we start with DBZ. Naturally he was the only other black man in the volunteer group.
:snoop

I voted for a game night (chess, Uno, etc) instead. :beli

In the end we had a movie night and watched The Blind Side. White allies... :beli

I wrote up a big story but you know what fuck it.
All you need to know is I went to this volunteer group and walked out of what was basically a pyramid scheme/cult group under the guise of a group that helps underprivileged kids.  :maf

I went on an Arvie-esque binge last night (I affix a modifying suffix because instead of binging on pizza, donuts, cookies, or cuddling with my adorable dog, I binged on a little bit of gourmet cheese, meatless chili, and quinoa) and today someone joked that I looked like I was wasting away the past few weeks so I don't feel that post-binge shame. :rejoice

I think that has more to do with spending all their time obsessively competing against other geniuses that were much more popular (see: Michaelangelo/Raphael, Tesla/Edison).

If a socially awkward genius back in the day just wanted to get laid, they probably had systems in place to do it easily (for men) whether that was brothels or arranged marriages.

Leonardo rarely even finished his projects as he was probably always busy getting man-booty, which wasn't as easy as it is today.

My wife's car has been having battery troubles and I've been working a lot recently so she got fed up and took it to a shop on Friday. Today they called her and said that the battery was bad and there was some corrosion on the cables. They quoted her $500 for a new battery and a "battery cable manifold assembly" that is "very hard to find."

 :gurl

She told them that seemed steep and they said they could just replace the battery for $300. She called me and I told her to go get the car.

$130 for a new battery and battery cable from AutoZone and it's good as new. The wife thinks I am Superman and I prevented the shop from exploiting women. A triumphant day!
