Went to the doctor. I hadn't been to a doctor in nearly 15 years. They found some interesting things and looking back in the past few years, everything made total sense.

My license plate light was out. I was literally about to turn into my driveway when I got stopped too. Ten minutes later and I was free.

I don't think I've ever changed my license plate light. I've changed the tail lights a couple times.

Started recording my new short movie two weeks ago, based on a script I wrote from Aug to Sep.

Investing in a Zoom H4N and Rode NTG2 (+deadcat) was ABSOLUTELY worth it. (Upgraded from a Zoom H1 and Rode VideoMic, both entry-level gear.) On Monday we recorded on a hella windy roofdeck and the audio came out super clear. It's not "crisp," more "soft," but the wind is barely a presence. I'm really impressed.

On Thursday we recorded in a semi-open interior room and I just put the H4N on the ground since we didn't have a boom operator that night, and it also impressed me with everything it was able to pick up. Very excited to finally have above-decent audio in one of my short films (this will be my fourth.)

Makes the fact that I'm super broke again a little more digestable.

A string of triumphs yesterday:

- Got a 5% raise
- My cut of the profit sharing incentive program was doubled (it isn't much for me, it went from about $500 a year to $1000 a year. Still, I'll take it)
- Officially named the successor to the director of the department I'm in. Current director is talking about retiring next spring. I've been promised it before but it is now on paper, which doesn't mean much but it's more official now than in the past. If I get it, I will be in the DCharlie/Van Cruncheon income bracket

Was driving around doing errands lowkey depressed as I looked at the time in my car, thinking damn it's 7PM on a Sunday and I didn't have any fun or chill (outside of some of the Lions game). Got home, looked at the clock in my room and realized it was actually around 6PM

I always leave one clock unchanged during daylight savings time, just so I can surprise myself like this

Same day I get a call from my old (great) landlord, who got a new apartment for me, starting from just when I get home from holidays. Told me I could wait with my deposit and just pay it through the first year staying there.
