My Google Wifi got here over the weekend. I impulse-bought it on Black Friday for $99 because while I've been pleased with my Asus AC1750's speed, the admin page makes me want to chug bleach.
Since Google Wifi is supposed to work in a mesh (and I was just buying one), and the AC1750 was pretty top of the line when I bought it 3.5 years ago, I was worried Google Wifi might actually be slower than my current setup. I justified it by deciding to give whichever of the two routers is the slowest to my parents, whose router REALLY sucks.
The Google Wifi app is bliss, setup was mostly quick and painless, and I was even able to directly link my Philips Hue Bridge in the app. This makes it so anyone on my network can go to
http://on.here to control my lights! There's also a couple neat features like "family mode" that turns off the connection to certain devices (I assume for kids) for a set amount of time, guest network (which isn't a new feature, but I couldn't tell you for the life of me how to set it up with my Asus router), and priority access (where one device gets prioritized traffic.)
And on top of all that... it's faster than my Asus router! Around 40 Mbps faster (down), in fact. Roughly the same upload speed, though, but that's probably on Comcast.
Extremely pleased with this purchase.
