I heard Platinum Games is a really terrible developer, just put out some crazy garbage called The Legend of Koppa or something. I'd probably avoid anything they touch, unless it's Darksiders.

I'm looking forward to Bayo 2. The demo was short but felt a lot like Bayo 1.

So far I have Donkey Kong, Mario Kart 8, and W101 for my Wii U. DK and MK8 are excellent, W101 I never got into.

You misunderstand: I have no intention of buying Bayonetta.  :jawalrus When I can play it on PC for free, that'll be when I try it for 10 mins go "yeah, Devil May Cry is better" and go back to playing DMC. :jawalrus

:lawd

It doesn't seem to matter the platform that this game is on-- all the crazy shit going on looks absolutely beautiful, and it's all going at 60 FPS and 1080P to boot.  Insanely good art direction.

Played two hours of Bayo 2 and an hour of the original game.  All the concerns I had over Kamiya not being the director are gone.  From a game play standpoint, a lot of the game feels the same to me, but with more polish.  The visuals are also a much bigger leap than I thought, after playing the original again.  Huge difference.

The game doesn't look as nice on the Wii U game pad.  That's fine by me, since I find the game pad too clunky to use for this title anyway.  I can see myself using it for a little bit of offscreen play here and there, but the pro controller is definitely the way to go here.

Do you have to buy it early to get both games?

Not sure.

It's possible its a first print run, but I hardly doubt its going to be hard to find.

Anecdotal evidence though - I couldnt find this at GameStop or Target at all. Another store (Meijer) had only 4 copies - 3 left when I came.

Bayo 1+2 is only going to have one print run in Europe apparently. It sold out on Amazon.

Only Gamestop had it for €70. Argos had €55 but it won't come in till next Weds at least so had to order it because fuck the Gamestop tax :tocry

You might just be used to the game. I 1000'd Bayo so I'm familiar with what works and how to fight. Game literally feels untouched. Like an expansion pack.

I think some stuff is already unlocked? Like the Cheetah Run

I've played through 3rd Climax twice so far. I still think I'm missing some collectibles, so I'll probably clean that up before doing Infinite Climax. Right now I don't think the first game does a single thing better than this one (or nothing important, at least). They even made the Alfheims bearable by getting rid of the shitty gimmick missions and instead having almost all of them be some type of variation of "kill everything". I can't really think of anything to complain about.

The 1v1 fights are dope as fuck, especially against the Lumen Sage.

I liked the Alfheim variety in Bayo 1 more. Most of the Bayo 2 Alfheim conditions are things you're supposed to be doing anyway like not getting hit, keeping up combo, and finishing quickly.

The lack of QTEs and less mashing is welcome, though.

Thank fuck the shitty QTEs are gone. I never played Bayo 1 so I beat it when I picked this up, and my god, the QTEs were AWFUL.  Same with the artificial difficulty spikes by having you face 2 and 3 of the same monster when you beat one of them, or fighting the same bosses over and over again.  Overall the combat was quite fun, so I'm ready to start B2 now.

They added "Umbran Climaxes" which basically give you a burst of strength, and small health regen. It's nothing game-breaking at all.

I used Rakshasha in the entire game, lol. Messed with the Alruna a bit, but I felt more comfortable with Rakshasha.

When you beat the game, you unlock the Chain Chomp.

I havent tried Tag Climaxes, but I'd like to give it a spin once.

That's exactly why I like them. :D

I am especially happy about how little mashing there is now. With the addition of Umbran Climax, Torture Attacks are far more situational and don't need to be used as often (I almost never use them). Especially since enemy weapons aren't nearly as valuable for score as they were in the first game, so there's no need to TA them for the guaranteed drop. Platinum ironed out pretty much all of my complaints.

Water combat can be annoying the first time through, but it's fine once you have better weapons (Alraune and the scythe are good), techniques (the move that lets you zip to an enemy by double tapping lock-on), and more magic to Umbran Climax if you want. I never had a problem with the air battles, though. They play just like ground combat, except you don't have your jump attacks IIRC. Not that big a deal.

Here's a short guide I'm working on. It has every verse location including the missable ones and alfheims, so you might find it handy.

Playing through infinite climax now, it's very good.

Bayonetta 2 flows so much better than Bayo 1.  The levels are still too long tho, and consistently overstay their welcome. And the cutscenes are still too long as well, on top of being awfully placed. Having fun with this game tho

Finished my Pure Platinum run thru 3rd Climax earlier today. Scores/times: http://i.imgur.com/xNk5uBL.jpg

Only thing I don't like right now is the Bracelet of Time. It is comically overpowered. If you keep that thing equipped the entire time and use it liberally, you can combo everything from full health to death without much trouble. I felt bad about using it on a couple of the bosses, but I didn't want to grind out a proper strategy to beat them. :(

Maybe it's not so bad if you use the Gaze of Despair to try and balance it out.

Here's a short guide I'm working on. It has every verse location including the missable ones and alfheims, so you might find it handy.

Playing through infinite climax now, it's very good.

Yeah, this was helpful. Seems like it's going to be similar to the guide you made for the first game.

Good job on the PPs. Thanks glad you found it useful.

I just got platinum/PP on all of 2nd climax, and cleared infinite climax (crap scores).

Yeah Bayonetta 2 is even less balanced than Bayo 1, even with the kilgore glitch.

Several very OP accessories like Bracelet of Time. Pulley's Butterfly still pretty OP for avoiding damage.

I haven't messed with the Climax Brace 1 and 2 but I'm pretty sure they both negate your score for the stage? Otherwise they'd be extremely OP.

You can spam items with no rank penalty. Want infinite magic and perma-witch time? Just spam those items for free PPs.

If you use accessories/items the difficulty is a joke even on Infinite, if you don't use items/accessories it's harder than Bayo 1.

Just finished my Infinite Climax Pure Platinum run (uploading the replays here)

Took a little longer than I would've liked because I was sick for a few days, but I'm glad I finished right before I got the Halo collection.

Normally I'd write some type of review, but ain't nobody got time for that when there's a metric fuckton of Halo to be played. I'll just say that the game is amazing, and that the only flaw that really sticks out to me is some poor balancing. The Bracelet of Time and the earrings that transform you into the mech are insanely overpowered, and of course, Pulley's Butterfly is as godly as ever. All of those are practically "I Win" buttons (though some of the bosses are still a challenge to PP, even with the BoT). I also don't like how they removed the penalty for item usage. It would be fine if there were only items for health recovery, magic recovery, and even the attack power increase, but not when there's an item that literally makes you invincible. What a joke, lol.

All that being said, it's still better than the original in every way and it's one of the best games in the genre. I especially like how the mid-size enemies can now defend themselves with their parry ability. It makes combat much more interesting.

Congrats. Did you use items in addition to Bracelet, Earrings, and Pulley's?

I'm trying to do a challenge PP run with no items and none of those accessories but it's hard going.

Balance is pretty whack, it's either broken easy with those accessories and items (especially the item that makes you completely invincible), or very difficult.

Nope, I didn't use items or the earrings and pulley's. I did use the BoT on the final boss and a couple of the other human bosses, though. I've never really tried to PP them without the BoT because I wanted to be done by the time Halo came out. :-[

So here's the IC/PP challenge run I'm trying to do. I'll probably give up on it though.

1. No items.

2. Only Evil Harvest Rosary, Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa, Gaze of Despair, and (maybe) Eternal Testimony allowed. Gaze isn't mandatory but I'll try to equip it most of the time.

3. No gameplay altering costumes.

3. Avoid 'farming' too much magic outside of verses by entering/exiting areas.

Nah, I had the Moon equipped most of the time. Honestly, I think it's kinda useless because it breaks your dodge offset if you accidentally parry while trying to dodge towards an enemy, and dodging is pretty much always better than parrying. I thought about switching it out, but didn't know what else I could use besides Harvest Rosary (which hurts your score, presumably) or the Gaze of Despair. I'll save that for a future playthrough.

Good luck on your challenge run, mjemirzian. The enemies in this game seemed much faster and more aggressive than the original, so some of them are really hard to deal with when enraged.
