Best Buy Gamer's Club Unlocked is legit
« on: November 08, 2014, 01:31:59 PM »
I got in on this a few months back. For the full price it's not worth it, but if you can snag a membership whenever they run those "buy ___ game get GCU membership for $30" deals it's really worth it.  You get a 20% discount on new games (which applies to any wrapped game, brings $60 games down to $48, and also stacks on top of sale prices), 10% extra on trades (which stacks with whatever other promos they're running), and other offers throughout the year. Using a rolling trade-in combined with the $10 BB Rewards pre-order certificates, I've paid a total of around $64 out of pocket for the following games (all of which except COD gained/gains you a $10 pre-order RW certificate):

Shadow of Mordor (which I paid for with some initial game trades)
Sunset Overdrive
COD: AW
Halo MCC
Far Cry 4
GTA V

If you like to play/trade and not hang on to stuff, you'll pay very little out of pocket. Good deal, thumbs up.

I have GCU as well.
I actually got lucky.  I was a part of it before it switched ... where it as $15/year, you got a magazine ( @gamer = :lol ) and it doubled the preorder bonus reward zone points.
So I not only got grandfathered into the current GCU, but the sent me a coupon to extend it 2 years for $30!

So I'm good for a while.
Plus I use a Reward Zone mastercard for pretty much everything I buy and then pay it off every month so I always have a great supply of reward zone points to use.

That 20% off works on Infinity Characters too last I checked.  So if you're into that or have kids that are into it like I do, that's really helpful.

Member since the GMR days and was happy with the new GCU stuff. That 20% plus preorder bonus on top of a 45 day adjustment window can't be beat. I've had a few major problems with them getting preorders in though. But it didn't stop my spending and with the additional deals for GCU subs I'm up to 2026 right now. I think by then they'll have to change things, since most stuff will all be digital.

Best Buy B2G1 sale stacks with GCU

We bought Xmas gifts today using this sale combined with the 20% off GCU discount, and got Diablo 3, LBP 3, and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 for $96 total with tax.

They're totally going to stop letting people stack the discount at some point, haha.

Actually they are going to be expanding the discount to include price matches here shortly sometime in Jan or March. It's a paid service and I'm glad they see the need to amend some policy issues GCU has in it's current form.
