I did these when I was 14 in 2000. God I was such a weeaboo. Teenagers
the squall one was the cover of my English binder lol
I was long out of that phase by then. My nutso-anime fanboy years were '93-'95 probably I was all over anything Ranma 1/2. One thing that your drawing reminds me of is the first ever "weeaboo" I ever saw. I might have talked about this before. When I was a senior in '99, there was a freshman who was called "Michi." Michi was 'Japanese' and dyed her hair green. I had never seen this girl, but another kid was telling me about her because he knew I liked anime and shit.
So I see this girl in the lunch room one day and...
she's caucasian. Blue eyes, blonde hair, and splotches of green shit in it.

What was up with the name and bad hair? The girl loved one of the Sailor Moon characters named "Michiru." This is where the bad dye job came from. The "Japanese" claim was that she was like 1/4th or something.

So I stayed far away from her. One day while sitting on the curb outside waiting for a ride, she walked out with a teacher. The teacher asked what she was doing on the weekend and the girl started describing the most weeaboo anime-viewing party thing I have ever heard, while trying to tell the teacher what anime was. I kind of laughed out loud and she turned around, saw me, and went beet red. That's about all I remember about that girl. I graduated soon after that.
There was also a teacher who was huge into anime. I never had any classes with the guy, but one day he came into the art room, saw me doing something with a manga-look to it, and went nuts. He was really disappointed when I told him I was a senior and was leaving pretty soon. He was trying to start up an anime club.
Later on during college, I was working at my game store job and doodling shit on a post-it note pad as usual. This guy comes in and to my surprise is really impressed with my drawings. He wants me to do a portfolio for him. Turns out he worked for Cartoon Network and wanted me to intern there. I tried to fill up a sketch book for him, but just couldn't do it for some reason. He came back, was bummed about it, and I never saw the guy again. I feel pretty fucking stupid for not having tried harder for the guy. At the time I wanted to stay at the game store. I have no idea what the hell was wrong with me.
