Season 3 deals with things well in regards to Jim/Pam. More recent eps show the budding of a triangle thing, which could be trouble.
The thing is, the show will be retooled to what fans are hyping on, and fans are hyping on Jim and Pam. It worked well in season 2 because it was almost natural; the result of two actors clicking. Making that a prime focus would be a mistake, though.
The more troubling issue with season 3 (and again, it is not show ruining) is that things are more over-the-top. There were hints in season 2, but now the peacock is showing its feathers. It's still doing a good job of walking the balance beam so I can't be too hard on it.
