« on: December 24, 2014, 07:53:45 PM »
Think my wife got tired of me talking bout remote play :) Super happy now

Whats good on this system besides streaming ps4 games and ps now soon?

It came with 5 games, Uncharted, Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Escape Plan and some shooter.

PS+ games, but that becomes a decreasing value proposition the longer you wait to subscribe (unless they start rotating older PS+ games back in)

Best Vita games I've played:

Ys: Memories of Celceta
Persona 4 Golden
DJ Max Technika Tune
Muramasa
Dragon's Crown
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (avoid Sigma 2, it's one of the worst ports of the last 15 years)
Virtue's Last Reward
Danganronpa
Danganronpa 2
Lumines
Gravity Rush

Wipeout is also decent, but it runs at a very unstable 30 fps and has a bunch of shitty battle missions. Overall it's not even half as good as Wipeout HD or the PSP games, probably (I haven't played those in ages).

Earth Defense Force 2017 Portable should be awesome as well. I haven't played the Vita version tho.

I'm going to cosign with this list. DJMax Technika Tune might be my favorite music game since Rock Band 3 (though if you want it, you might want to get it sooner rather than later), Persona 4 Golden is a blast to play on the go, Ys: Memories of Celceta is your typical Ys game (though that's not a bad thing), and Dragon's Crown is just down right fun to play on short bursts

I just got into Danganronpa (which I'm enjoying a lot more than I thought I would) and Lumines (soundtrack is sweet and you can find the game for dirt cheap nowadays)

Persona 4, Dagan Ronpa 1/2, Wipeout 2048, Disgaea 3/4, possibly Dead or Alive 5 I guess?, Ultimate Marvel vs Capco--Oh wait that isn't on the PSN store anymore. You'd have to hunt down a retail copy.

Congrats, you have everything that is worth owning on the system now.

Yup. Plays PSP and PS1 games -- dictated by whats available on the store, of course. But many titles are there if you missed out.

EDF 2017 Vita is tits.  You get to play as Pale Wing after finishing it once.   Jetpack + EDF = yes

Other stuff nobody's really mentioning:

-TxK: Download only new version of Tempest 2000!

-Killzone Mercenary: The good Killzone game.  Has good single player and multiplayer modes.

-Freedom Wars: Monster Hunter style action-RPG, but with a faster pace and more action game-like game play.  In addition to killing big mecha-monster things, there's also battles against rival human clans.  Has online co-op and deathmatch.

-Musou: Take your pick with Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate or Samurai Warriors 4.  Although Dynasty Warriors 8XL has been patched to run/sound better, it's a weaker port compared to the other two.

-Sonic Transformed: The best racing game on the Vita, although I prefer more arcadey and kart style games to Wipeout.

-Hot Shots Golf: Self-explanatory.

-Rayman Origins: Great port of this 2D platformer.

-Virtua Tennis 4: May be hard to find now.  Looks amazing and plays great.

-WARNING UGUU ALERT-

-Akiba's Trip: Crazy otaku game where you run around Akihabara and get into brawls, where the goal is strip enemies to their undies, which kills them if they're vampires.  Yeah.  Plays like Way Of The Samurai and is from the same developer.

-Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth: Turn-based RPG that takes the various video game consoles and turns them into anime girls.  You play as Neptune, based on the unreleased Sega console, and fight/ally yourself against versions of the Playstation, Wii, and Xbox.  The story is nonsensical and humorous and the dungeons can be pretty hard if you go after the optional ones and/or try to take on the optional harder enemies.

-Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus: Musou-style beat-em-up with the perv factor dialed up to 11 off the charts.  How much?  Too much for Van Cruncheon to handle!

It's a visual novel with detective and court room trial elements in a Battle Royale-type scenario.

Virtue's Last Reward is really good.

Not really. I found it pretty damn boring. Probably because I never played 9 Days, 9 Persons, 9 Doors or whatever the previous title was. The "twist" was all sorts of stupid as well. I kinda regret spending more time on that title than I probably should've, but I didn't spend a dime on it so I can't complain too loudly about it.

Probably one of the weaker adventure game/"visual novels" I've played.

Basically if you weren't aware of it on Sunday then you were SOL. The OLED Vitas were being phased out by Target and marked for 50% off which made it $100. Combine that with Target's Cartwheel discount of 15% off a Vita then you effectively get it for $85 after that.

Maybe there's still some in your area. Check out this site and look for any of the following DCPI:

Finished Uncharted, such a shame we wont see more games like this on it :(

Now to decide between Gravity Rush and Tearaway...

Do Tearaway. You can beat it in a few hours and then start Gravity Rush.

Both are a bit of a slog IMO. Tearaway especially for the 100% achievements. Otherwise Gravity Rush because it repeats the same thing over and over and over.
