Yea kung pao is often meh at a random Chinese joint, whereas it's very hard to fuck up General Tso's. I've only had bad General Tso's once: all the pieces were chewy, big balls of meat and the sauce was bitter.
Side note: the one time I had General Tso's shrimp I wasn't impressed. Expensive and the shrimp was pretty meh. I'd imagine a good recipe of it would be fucking amazing though.
