just started playing it for the first time ever. I like it so far, but I wish they would have done more customizing for mobile. customizing my character was a pita with all those tiny icons.

I heard the interface needs some help.

Truly one of the GOATs though.

I will never understand this games appeal beyond being a good Star Wars game. Bad combat system - baldurs gate lyte in my eyes, bad characters, boring plot, repetitive structure, terrible ending. The best thing about it is the twist. Carth's ranting and raving animation is now stuck in my head. What awful, awful characters. It was so bad I never played the infinitely superior KOTOR 2 until the finished content patch.

One of the most overrated games of all time. It makes Final Fantasy VII and Ocarina of Time look like fucking Shenmue.

There were plenty of games like it. They just weren't 3d. And even Morrowind did it too.

KOTOR is definitely a "don't trust Westaboos when it comes to RPGs" moment. A game with combat like that, coming off the AD&D engine makes me want to cry giant crocodile tears. Definitely a realization that westaaboos don't know shit about quality battle systems. What an awful, hot mess. Fucking Rock Paper Scissors system after Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale :rofl

I don't even know why you'd bring final fantasy into this at all considering I don't even hold final fantasy that highly in terms of gameplay, either.

Especially since I clearly stated that KOTOR's combat is terrible, coming from a fan of Baldur's Gate 2 like myself.

You pretty much equated nobody in the west as knowing what a good RPG is. I countered with a reasons why I like it. You replied "westaboos suck at rpgs"

You have an opinion and so do I. And mine includes that 99.4% of JRPG's are complete shit.

Seems to me, most wrpg fans are willing to let go bad gameplay, if there's a plot or story that interests them enough to role play it, whereas jrpg fans like mechanics and gameplay depth generally even if the story sucks (like most game stories).

As an rpg fan, I've definitely found myself liking jrpgs more for that reason. Most wrpgs post-infinity engine era trade gameplay depth and mechanic texture for stories. Which is a fundamental reason for their mainstream success. The problem is that it makes their gameplay terrible, and their story writing not much better, either. This is especially true with Bioware. I feel like Bethesda has came out better. The problem is that Bioware games account for 50% of wrpgs and most Bioware games suck

I really liked KOTOR at the time, but I doubt I'd go back to it at this point. If I'm going to replay an older Bioware scifi RPG, it'll be ME1 or ME2.

And on the topic of story vs. gameplay, I'd rather have both, but I tend to be able forgive bad gameplay and bugs if the story and role playing is really good [see: Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, which is one of my favorite 00's game, despite being riddled with mechanical faults]. But I also like JRPGs, because I'm a massive weeaboo and sometimes I need to get my moe animu waifu fix, too. FF13 sucks, though. It's true.

gameplay is pretty easy and the combat is clunky at best and I fear what would happen if I were to ratchet up the difficulty, but this game is all about playing that absolute evil path.

it's not the best game, but it is fun.   not sure how JRPG vs. WRPG fits into this, considering all JRPGs can broken just as bad as this game (though SMT might take longer) and don't have nearly as fun of a story to make up for it or dual sided light sabers

and this is a great port, aside from some UI stuff requiring a trained ant.

I still find it insane that in just less than 10 years I was able to play a graphically superior port of one of the biggest games from two generations ago on my phone.
