For me personally, it's been pretty kick ass. The first half of the decade has been an exercise in digging myself out a hole that was dug for me and that I dug myself in for the first 25 years of my life and I'm starting to get to where I want to be. Debt free, good job, currently going to graduate school, living well, and basically doing what I want to do. Aside from getting passed over for a promotion recently, I don't have much to complain about.
Conversely, 10 years ago, I wanted to kill myself every day, I worked two jobs and still was in debt. When I wasn't working crazy hours, I did shitty in school, doing just barely well enough to avoid academic probation. Parents were stealing money from me, women wanted nothing to do with me, and in spite of being in the greatest generation of video games ever (PS2-XB-GC era), I was too broke to get all the games I wanted to play. Oh and I spent a shitload of time on GAF but to be honest, pre-NeoGAF GAF was a pretty good board.
A lot's changed
