Wow you are defending chelsea because they played with their "b team"?

They lost 2-4 at home with 50/100 million squad

United was crap, but they didnt lose, and it was away.

There is only 1 legaue difference between bradford and cambridge if Im correct.

Prob the best thing about todays game, Ajax was so bad, could have been 0-4 at least for Feyenoord.

But we got a point I guess.

Team needs an experienced player so bad.

This coming 5 game stretch is key here for Liverpool. Bolton Everton Tottenham City and Southampton.

Pool will need good results in 3 out of 4 of those League Games if they're gonna have a shot at getting in the top 4.

that horrible realisation that your amazing form earlier in the season was likely in spite of your manager, rather than because of him.

if he starts nolan again and pushes downing out wide on sunday, we're going to be getting to the vinegar strokes of his time with us.

though some silverware might save his skin, even if we play like a tony pulis wet dream.

I noticed some of that. What's the deal with Big Sam and his thing for Nolan and Carroll? Feels like whenever i see them in the mix your midfield play doesn't look nearly as quality as it did earlier on.

he loves to set up in a very conservative way which he can proceed to micromanage throughout the game. he can't do that without nolan on the pitch being his voice and andy, bless him, can't run the channels or make darting runs off the shoulder like valencia or sakho can.  he becomes a predictable lynchpin focus of our attack instead of the two chaotic pinballs we had before. his head also provides a tempting option for any defender who can't make his mind up with how to play it out.

andy's crocked for a week or two and nolan produced probably some the worst stats of his entire career at the bindipper's place. we have man u on sunday and could have zero fit first team CBs, so if allardyce sets up with anything other than a team resembling our glory days of last autumn, it'll be knives out. the tensions are pretty clear with the owners not letting sam get darren fletcher on a long term deal as it broke just about every transfer rule we set up after redknapp did us over, and wouldn't pony up for gomis either (thank fuck), who as a big_man_up_top was another sam favourite.

Yeah, seems a bit of an odd, super dated target man type focus. And it's frankly a little bizarre considering how well you guys were working before, you had options and some good linkups in the final third.

you guys could use a sort of all arounder in your midfield. something like an oxlade-chamberlain (but with an actual end product :snoop )

if only he had the same faith in fast_black_legs

we still have downing doing business when he's allowed on the diamond tip, we've missed kouyate too who can do a pretty good vieira impression on his day. he's more of a destroyer/water carrier than a pace man though. fletcher would've been another steady eddie which is the last thing we needed, think it was a move by allardyce to upgrade nolan as his on pitch proxy.

we really could've done with another pacey, creative option in midfield. ox would be a good shout, can see him in a similar position next year to the one jenks was in this year. a decent young english prospect whose looking at a lot of bench time due to quality of the other options. maybe we could snag a cheeky loan if we sign jenks and/or song on a perm?

What a beautiful man Coutinho is.

a strange one isn't he

shows a couple flashes of world-classiness a few times here, vanishes into the pitch other times. i don't ever really think he'll be good enough to get plucked away from liverpool, but probably a good solid squadman for years to come.

liverpool doesn't provide the platform he needs to develop into what he can be. imo sterling will suffer in the same way if he doesn't bail out soon. at least coutinho can fuck off to another league. sterling's not going out of england so it's basically a matter of whether city or chelsea decide they want him first. otherwise he's going to be stuck in liverpool mediocrity.

He's still only 22, so he has plenty of time to develop consistency. Liverpool has a pretty good group of young players coming up together that are all in that 20-24 range. I really want to see if they can stick together for a few years, because there's a good chance they might actually achive something this time.

i'll give brenda credit for figuring out how to make suarez & sturridge work although the defense was free as fuck. he eked the most out of what he had last season. but as far as player development i'm not really seeing it. suarez has been suarez since about 2007 and i was extremely disappointed that liverpool ended up w/ him.

sturridge...it depends on how you look at it. i say that in liverpool he found his level and the right opportunities instead of being shunted out on the periphery at chelsea/city. i wouldn't argue too hard against someone giving all the credit to brenda tho.

coutinho...i never saw him at inter so... :yeshrug i couldn't tell you shit about what he was like then.

just from what i've seen of them in the EPL i really don't think there's much difference between oscar (one of my favorite players around) and coutinho from a talent standpoint. the difference is the application of mourinho's management to complete his game. i don't see brenda stressing the same importance of tactical awareness and unit functionality in his AMs. even Hazard you can see the changes in his game under mourinho. far more direct, confident but his workrate is much better. granted he is much more talented than sterling, oscar or coutinho. so no i don't think sterling or coutinho can reach their potential at liverpool. at least not under the current manager/system.

chelsea develops a bit more than city but there's certainly a baseline level of eliteness you have to live up to or you'll be next out that revolving door. hazard and oscar came ready for it but they were definitely not the finished article. i'd like to see coutinho and sterling at least get that shot.

Lucas has been fantastic as the DM for pool. In fact, you could say that Liverpool's run of good form started after he became the regular there (along with the formation change). Gerrard is already kind of useless here now

Wayne Rooney: 5 Premier Leagues, 2 Football League Cups, 3 Community Shields, 1 Champions League. Many other individual accolades.

Yep, even kicking off the weekend kinda tight with Schalke and other Borussia too.

I caught a little bit of Ajax and PSV yesterday btw. Man like Aron Johansson won it :rejoice it america

Damn, and at Amsterdam Arena. Another American upsetting Europeans  :jawalrus.

I was reading Van Gaal is eyeing Depay for the summer :hitler. I wonder if he's thinking about offloading one of our attackers other than Falcao; maybe Di Maria?

The man should also set his priorities and get a calm yet aggressive defender with a leaderlike role that will instill confidence to McNair and Rojo. Rumors say Howedes, but idk if Schalke is willing to sell one of their best players.

True, but a defender with those qualities is more suited for 3-5-2 specifically, which idk if he's gonna keep. It definitely fits his "flood the midfield, hold the ball" mentality, like you mentioned.

Bayern overall were bad though. Second goal was a (brilliant) free kick, but they were uncreative from open play, Guardiola didn't seem happy at all.

Dortmund had a really good game, although Freiburg was weak. Still the 3 - 0 should give em some confidence.

Bremen tomorrow at home against Leverkusen. Not really expecting much, thankfully the victory against Hoffenheim gave us some breathing room.

AIA, Ronaldo currently, next to messi is the most famous soccer player in the world. In these modern times you could say he's the Jordan of the sport, but unlike nba, soccer is global enough where new "jordan's" pop up quite a bit. So in the case of soccer, it doesn't really mean much. Wrath is right though in that Pele and Maradona are widely considered the GOATs. Again, soccer has a lot of "Jordan's" because it's such a global game and there have been so many influential players for specific countries alone.

Well comparing Ronaldo with Jordan makes sense if you mean he is the most marketed player. But he isn't towering over everybody else like Jordan did, because a) Messi is so close in abilities and b) because all the regional players are just as if not more important in their home markets.

From a pure skills point of view, Ronaldo and Messi are just as valid picks as Pele, Zidane, Ronaldo or Maradona. Hell, Maradona and Pele are virtually impossible to compare because modern soccer has advanced so much.
