Quote
“On another day we would score three or four goals. We knew we had the players who could dominate. We are proud of the performance.”

-Wayne Rooney.

“In my opinion it was the best performance we have had this season. We were not effective because we have created, despite the defensive organisation of Chelsea, three chances in the first half and eight in the second half.”

-Louis van Gaal.

If we were warming up for the big game next weekend at the Emirates, we couldn't have had much better practice opposition than Manchester United today. The play was Arsenal in a nutshell, mistaking possession in the middle third for threat and then being surprised when mistakes in possession were seized upon and punished. We got a bad impression of the Gunners after the match as well, with both Rooney and Louis van Gaal jumping straight into the magical realm of Wengerland in order to pretend that a loss was actually a win.

Looks like Tuchel will be taking control of Dortmund. Should be a nice fit, he is Klopps protege or summat?

When I saw that Klopp was leaving I thought "favre" immediately, wonder where that one will end up.

He actually wouldn't be a bad pick for you guys. Obviously not next season, but down the road.

ehhh

he's a pretty good manager but i don't really care overmuch to see the boys play a mostly defensive 4-4-2. I don't have anything against playing like that occasionally but he does it a loooot. ofc maybe he'd be different at Arsenal...

nah, i dont really care if it's pep. all i care is if they play attacking football, can win, give youth chances, and are tactically flexible from game to game.

:yeshrug

That sounds reasonable. Especially giving youth chances, it's why I hope Southampton does well in succeeding seasons.

I'm not a man of hate brehs. I don't really hate any footballer (not even Ashley Cole or van Persie tbh - I pity the latter, the type of coward who would've been a mild threat away from defecting in the 1940s), and only heavily dislike a few teams. Spurs with their annoying delusions, and United have been the bane of my existence since I learned how to walk, but Chelsea, Chelsea physically repulse me. An utterly disgusting club right down their odious spine. A billionaire owner who's probably killed hundreds to gain his wealth, a manager who gauges the eyes of other coaches then plays victim, a captain who needs no description, all supported by (statistically, empirically, objectively) the most racist fans in Britain. What a horrible, disgusting, repugnant, vile little club. Scum in the purest sense of the word.

And fuck the thundercunts who swallow Mourinho's balls after every dickhead quote. I hope you never know the respect of your sons.

Van Gaal is pretty arrogant tho. His own children apparently have to adress him formally. Still, he's kind of cool.

Ancelotti seems kinda chill in comparison (whch will probably get him fired rather sooner than later, just not enough drama for Real).

He's played him as a winger, and in a more advanced position. I don't think he's that great in either. I see his best position as a sort of regista like Alonso is doing now.

Yeah, might be time to give him away. It'd be a risk to keep him there when you can buy someone that's more stable and consistent.

I don't think we're in a position where we can even consider selling Wilshere, if only due to the fact that Rosicky, Cazorla and Arteta won't be at Arsenal by June 2016 at the latest (and Ramsey's hamstring is suspect). But that argument is secondary to how talented he is, and he is potentially one of the best CMs in the world. He had goals in him at youth level too, so if that clicks then City have a matchwinner on top of a match dominator. And for the regista position that we'd like him to play, he's still a baby at 23 tbh. Dudes like Verratti and 19-year old Cesc are freaks. Pirlo and Xavi weren't doing that they do at such a tender age.

FWIW, I've always felt Wilshere is really good on the right cutting inside, so that could be an option in the 4-2-3-1.

Overall, the kid just needs to simplify his game. Wilshere is charging forward like a madman because he's too desperate to impress, and when you add that to the medical issues you noted here and in the other footy thread, then you get some real problems.

Anyway, Newcastle are a shambles, lmao.
