Door etiquette is easy to suss out, it is only in the crucible of a crowded bus where seats are in short supply that souls are forged and a man can truly know his own heart. LET CHAOS REIGN, WHEN DO YOU GIVE UP YOUR BUS SEAT FOR ANOTHER??!?!?

I would like to say I would give it up for a pregnant woman, but I sometimes have trouble discerning when a woman is pregnant or just carrying extra weight. Best not to risk it and just pretend to be too engrossed in my cell phone to notice.

I've never given up my seat to an old person, but I have thought about doing so on a number of occasions.

On buses or trains, I will give up my seat for elderly or pregnant people; I’ll also tap young people who are in elderly/infirm reserved seats when they’re pretending to sleep while the rightful are standing in front of them, waiting.

It’s easy to get away with that in Japan, I’d probably get shot by some Stand Your Ground sumbitch in ‘Murica.

I give my seat up to people who need it more than I, regardless of their demographic profile. Bags are fine on the floor though. I have empathy for living creatures.

The only time I've rode buses that were packed was during middle school and high school. City buses picked kids up and dropped them off, pretty sure its been that way for a lot of schools for a while. Bus would be packed when I would get picked up in the morning, getting a seat for the ride back meant getting to that shit early.

I would have to stand up every day in the morning since I was one of the last stops, so if I gots mine on the ride back, no fucking way I cater to any other asshole kid. Cripples never rode the bus, didn't give a shit about the girls riding the bus. Getting a seat and being able to relax for 10 minutes after school shit was a highlight of the day.

Outside school busing, every bus I've rode has under 20 people in it.
