No ac adapter in the new 3ds, no Majora's Mask game included in Majora's Mask LE 3ds "bundle" (

), no standard size 3ds available, no long takes sd cards so you have to have buy a micro sd and transfer your files to the micro, you have to open up the 3ds to switch out the memory card with a screw driver not commonly included in tool boxes - something else you have to buy!

The amount of cheapness here is unparalleled.

Scenario time:

You pre-ordered the new Majora's Mask XL 3ds. You sell your old 3ds including the charger. The new 3ds does not come with a charger. So you have to buy a new one because no one is going to BUY A 3DS WITHOUT A CHARGER.

The "bundle" doesn't come with a Majora's Mask game so you have to buy that too. You don't have a micro sd card and want more space, so you need to buy one of those INCLUDING a 00 Phillips screwdriver.

This is more hilarious than when it was required to play Crystal Chronicles with gba's

You should go and read that post again. I never said I was quitting games completely for good. I still play games on my phone. In any case, I don't have to play games to make a topic laughing at Nintendo's incompetence. In fact, it drives me away from games even further. I was considering importing a new 3ds to play DQ7 sometime in the future, but at this point I'm neutral to it due to Nintendo's awful handling of the new 3ds.

The only way to transfer your old 3DS downloadable games to the new one is by using an SD card adapter on your PC, right? So if you want to keep your digital content you definitely need to bust out a screwdriver.

And I see fanboys asking why a unified account system is such a big deal. At least with old 3DS you could just swap that card from one to the other.

It's just a scenario for fun. The only 3ds I am interested in is a JP 3ds for DQ7. However, my friend on Facebook has to do everything I listed.

I tried to play chrono cross and I really would like to play it but I end up getting bored and doing something else even though I think it is good. Haven't played it in a week.

I play dragon quest games on my phone. I am (slowly) going through Lunar, also on phone. I can really only play casual games like Crossy Road or Dragon Quest at this point.

I suspect Nintendo knows that the target audience for special edition 3DS owners are:

1) Manchildren who already own several 3DS units already and don't really need an AC adapter as they can just use the adapter on one of the other models.
2) Collectors who will just flip them on Ebay for twice the cost five years from now; as these units get passed around, not a single one will ever open the box.

The Amiibo fiascos with shortages showed Nintendo know exactly where their market is. Whaling. They know their stans are going to buy whatever shit they put out. Add an additional level of collect-ability and limited versions and they have them all harpooned. The hardcore are lining up to buy this limited edition Zelda 3DS because of their collection habit and Nintendo knows they can bilk them with their Mario/Animal Crossing limited editions and more. They can bilk them more with more Amiibos and every bit of cheap plastic tat on top of their games because it looks much better to the consumer when it's a physical product than Microtransactions. They have this shit on lock.

I bet they have their new console out by 2016 and have it announced by this E3 because while the fanbase might grumble about the Wii U ending support so early, but as soon as they see a new mario they will be rushing to push money into the palms of Nintendo's hands. They are all big whales after all.

Its a very magnified version of someones ass boils, as in shit just keeps spewing out. They don't represent gamers, they represent their very small subsecction of gaming.

They keep the flame wars hot and are a bunch of PS4 loving douches. If you're a real gamer you love all consoles regardless of faults.

But to get this topic back on track I totally agree Nintendo is making a lot of mistakes lately. I am super pissed about the New 3ds and not being able to get the more sophisticated model. The XL is just too big for my tastes and looks like a fucking toy.

I love the New 3ds though, we got a Japanese one back in november. I love the faceplates! One small little thing that annoys me is the stylus, they should have re-engineered it to have a spring tension built into them. It could have easily hidden inside the stylus itself and allowed for a cleaner look.

Kotaku bought a precision screwdriver and it didn't work! You may end up having to buy ANOTHER screw driver.

I found it funny that the screwdriver wasn't included. The packaging they showed off for the original faceplates had a built in plastic screwdriver. My screwdriver set had the appropriate one to use thankfully.

I opened up my Wii today because it's been making that awful noise when a disc spins in it (a common problem). halfway thru opening it up,I had to stop. most of the screws require a small Philips head, but a few had this stupid tri-grooved shape in them. I have like 6 screwdrivers, and half of them have swappable heads, but none had a shape like this

I bought one for $2 to open the Wii to swap out the Bluetooth module but I could tell it was going to just strip them the instant I started to turn it.

So I bought the $3 one, and it worked except I've had the Wii lying with its front plate and stuff off for like a year or more without the module replaced. I had only been playing Mario Kart Wii online on it and now you can't do that anymore. I guess I could actually fix it and play some of the other games I own/have but that seems wrong somehow.

I actually had a Y bit but it was too big for the screws.

EDIT: Actually, my favorite thing is the little white stickers they hide the screws under. I thought they were like little rubber inserts you'd have to peel off like a lot of computer parts use, nope just some cut stickers over top.

Man, I really hate feeling like I'm going to bat for Nintendo, but one complaint I will note as rather silly is laughing at the Majora's Mask Edition not coming with the game. It's not advertised as a bundle. You're the one calling it that and then laughing at it by calling it a bundle in quotation marks. The actual packaging just calls it the Majora's Mask Edition, and it costs the same as the non-Limited Edition releases. So I don't know why the Limited Edition would be expected to include a game when the regulars don't. Mind you, I get that it would only make sense to include the game and just charge more if need be, but then again, I think it's probably better this way, honestly. What version of the game do you want? Digital? Physical? Physical LE? Because if it WAS a bundle, Nintendo's typical MO is to only include the digital version pre-installed. That would be fine for me, but not for most people.

Ideas often get shut down prematurely just because some people with the power to veto an idea simply don’t understand it.

The last problem is that there is very little reason to try and push these ideas. Risk taking is generally not really rewarded. Long-term loyalty is ultimately what gets rewarded, so the easiest path is simply to stay the course. I’d love to see Nintendo make a more concerted effort to encourage people at all levels of the company to feel empowered to push through ambitious proposals, and then get rewarded for doing so.

here's the thing. Iwata is a great COO that's been placed in the place of a CEO.
What made Yamauchi great was his "I don't give a fuck, we're doing it like I say." attitude. Yamauchi was an incredible business man. He got it. I mean he set the vision and let the people do the work. You don't get a Miyamoto or a Kondo or a Yokoi any other way. I believe the reason that Iwata became the successor is because he knew the ins and outs of the business. He got how all of it ran and had worked in all these different capacities. The mistake was in thinking "This guy knows what Nintendo does better than anyone else. We should make him CEO." That's not the guy you want as CEO. You want him as a COO, someone who can keep it running. But you need someone like Yamauchi in the CEO chair to make it work.
