BAY AREA BORE: IS THIS TRUE
« on: January 19, 2015, 01:13:21 AM »
SF is apparently covered in human poop.

http://justice.gawker.com/the-streets-of-san-francisco-are-covered-in-human-shit-1679930931

Haven't been there in years but everything I hear about SF these days makes it sound like a total shithole (literally now). First the lack of schools and children, then rampant homelessness and lack of human services for those without jobs, and now this.

SF :yuck ???

I have witnessed things you can't imagine. Its one thing to be harassed by bums for money another to have them drop trow in front of you on the bart and take a rancid shit before your eyes.

No, not near the Bart! ON THE FUCKING BART WHILST IT IS MOVING!  :-\

The bart is fine, the police presence is great and I've never felt unsafe. Even when it's the last train of the night it's ok. Just don't surf your phone while near the exit doors. Lots of theft happens near those doors.

No worse than the helpless that are lost in this world that have nothing better to do than to go on the bart all day long. Some of it is so bad, I've got a good heart and it hurts going to SF and seeing the problems it has.

I'll tell you about a man (mid 40's) who had very discolored skin and was wearing worn out sweat pants. He stepped up to me and a female passenger and asked for booze money. You could tell in his eyes that he had given up on life, and there was a good reason for that. He lifted up his shirt to reveal a colostomy bag and several tubes for feeding. He was emaciated from whatever his condition was. I asked if he was ok living life like that, to which he responded: "If I had a fucking choice in it I wouldnt be drinking, but it's all I have besides the cancer that is killing me."

I gave the dude $10 so he could buy a fifth of vodka. I know it wouldn't help make him better, but it might of helped him feel a little better for awhile.

Jesus CHRIST.

At least you have a gentle heart, G. A LOT of people don't give the homeless money because "they'll spend it on drugs". They treat the homeless and drug addicts like they're fucking lepers. I'm glad you're so giving and nice to help him out, even if temporarily

Oscar Grant probably would give a different Yelp review about the BART.

Yeah it's a huge problem, and one that is neigh impossible to fix. With gentrification on the rise, you would have thought there would be more local money to invest in helping these poor people out. Instead they get pushed from one street corner to another. I've shared many a meal with homeless people in the area, I always feel guilty that I can eat and they can't. So when it's lunch time in the city and I'm there I just randomly ask a homeless person to join me. It's one thing to offer to pay for their meal, but I'd like to think it's the fact that I treat them like the human beings they are that makes a bigger difference. I wish more people would feel that way and weren't so stigmatised by being near homeless people.

Fucking love your generosity, G. When I come up to the Bay Area soon, you and I are going to buy homeless folks a dozen pizzas and some weed

I'm totally down with that idea! If only we had good pizza in the city.

We don't need to buy the weed, just get a good contact high from the protesters in front of the federal building. They love to sit on federal property and smoke up, while the federal cops watch on.

When you come up, you should come on the first friday of the month. I've got a special place to take you if you like the herb.

You can laugh now, but there is more money coming into that city than ever. The city of San Francisco ain't hurting when it comes to finances, the amount of new industry businesses and growth is insane! You'd think they'd want to clean the city up a bit. Hell companies like google contribute a lot to the gentrification of the area, but they also give a lot back to the local area to help the homeless/less fortunate. I agree it's not enough, and it saddens me immensely.

We are just cynical when it comes to the powers that be doing a damn thing about gentrification and its effect on communities

Money isn't a guarantee they'll give a shit unfortunately.

I did see a guy taking a shit once but it was in Oakland at like midnight. I drunkenly took the wrong BART train out of SF that would have landed me in the east bay rather than Fremont and so I  had to hop off and go to another station when I saw a rastafarian looking guy sitting on the curb. My phone was out of battery to check Google maps and he was the only person on the street so I went up to him and asked if he could point me to the intersection and he had a shocked look on his face and politely asked "Hey man, can you give me some space?" and that was when I noticed his pants were around his ankles.

I averted my eyes, apologized, and walked back and then 30 seconds later he runs up to me and told me where to go. He was very nice but I did not actually see or smell any human poop in public in the bay area as this article claims.

Yeah, there’s plenty of people poop. Lots more crazy screaming people, and even not-crazy screaming people. Some people stand outside shops and just scream /into/ the store.

I guess I’ve strayed from the poop topic.
