WaW was a good game aside from the near-constant enemy grenade spam

Even COD 4 had that problem. Along with stuff like martydom.  :yuck

They've gotten better about getting rid of the absolute stupid stuff in recent editions.

It's multi is tied with MW2 as the best in the series. I would be very happy to see a WaW2 on this gen with a larger player count.
YMMV

Yeah, that was the last time I really enjoyed COD MP. Maps were really well done in that.

Hangar

:lawd

It was also the last in the series to have gore. It was always pretty satisfying to blow a guy's leg off with a bouncing betty.

People are just guessing. It could obviously be some future "World War" but I think people are assuming WW2 because of Treyarch's past. Also I think there is a desire from some of the fanbase to move away from the future stuff for an iteration.

Count me among those who are done with this whole "modern warfare" crap.

I'm fine with modern warfare. I'm fine with future warfare. I just probably think not all of COD needs to be future stuff.

Currently it looks like Sledgehammer will handle the future stuff.
Infinity Ward as shitty as they are now will handle the modern stuff.

And Treyarch either goes down this road or back to blops 3.

I'm fine with essentially whatever Treyarch does. They are by far the best cod dev left.

yeah.  I'd like WW2 shooters back, and it's partly why I really enjoyed the new wolfenstein.  but technically black ops was world at war 2.  and treyarch similarly moved black ops to the future with black ops 2.

personally I still want CoD to jack the timesplitters/ darkest of days concept.

We just got exo suits and laser guns. Now they want to go back to 70 year old weaponry? :shaq2

They could do something like they did with Black Ops flashing between the past and present/future. Bad Company 2 had that World War II setup but the rest of it took place now.

The most important thing though is the fire. THE FIRE.  :drool

(checks Steam bestseller list)

yup, World at War is still the bestselling legacy Call of Duty game.  It seems to have been that way for a while.  I'm for it, modern day terrorist concerns are a little too plausible right now anyway.

It's funny to watch people botch those, or to send them a rokket while their back is turned. Real downside to Blops 2 was no support tier that persists through death since I suck.  :'(

But not one that's shitty like Ghosts, MW3 at least gave you the weaker offensive rewards after 10 kills or whatever. (Like I think you got the one bombing run that barely ever kills anyone after 15 kills, whereas in the regular tier it's like 5 kills or something.) Ghosts gives you a juggernaut drop and that's it iirc.

I guess the way AW does it is semi-okay.
