Don't know if I want to drop the cautious from my cautious optimism yet

I watched the pilot. Yes, pilots are not always the best representation of what a TV show may become over the course of the first season or the series, but I wasn't that into it. My biggest concern about it - aside from it being a spin-off almost assuredly doomed to live in the shadow of the main series - is that Saul seems much more suited as a secondary character than the lead of a series. And as much as I love Odenkirk's body of work, I just can't see him as a leading man. That was my main concern going and probably why I felt so bored by the pilot. But I'll give it a few more episodes before I make any final conclusions. :yeshrug

Liked both eps a lot.  They've got plenty of material to work with and the talent to pull it off.

I'm kinda eh on it right now (just seen the first episode).  Seems like a lot of it was, "hey remember those things from Breaking Bad?  Sure you do :^)"

Love the first two episodes. Good vibe, you can see the pieces moving into place.
I also love Bob Odenkirk, so that helps.

Think I'm on board now (halfway through ep2).

I was never cynical enough to think Gilligan & Co. were doing this just to milk the property, but I still didn't really know why they wanted to make this show.

There's a lot more backstory to know about pretty much everything in breaking bad and all of it went through Saul, who is an interesting character in himself.

I was a little worried it would dawdle on pre-cartel stuff, but it seems like they're getting right to it.  Shit will ramp up quickly.  or not. i dunno.

First two episodes were pretty strong. Didn't really like the idea at first, but I'm sold now.

The break scene in episode two
 :whoo
Love the slow pan up and away to focus on Saul. This was also the moment when I knew I was totally on board.

1st episode was kinda meh but the 2nd one was awesome. Rewatched the 1st one and realized it was actually good too.

I love the whole Breaking Bad universe. The people behind this show (and BB) really know how to make engrossing television.

Watched the first two episodes.

Fist half of episode 1 had one really good high
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Saul defending the kids that fuck dead people

,
but the rest of the half fell flat. The second half of episode 1 is fantastic. Really fast paced and the perfect amount of tension/levity.

Episode 2 is really good throughout. Reminded me early episodes of Breaking Bad that are still frantic and dire, but not over the top on a grand scale.
OH!

Wifey forced my hand and so we watched the episodes that were already up.

And I quite like it. Less focus on an idiot like Walter White immediately makes this show more interesting to me. Walt started off so interesting but morphed into a very geeky white male power fantasy halfway through.

From what they've setup so far Saul is interesting. For what was a side character.

He's not an idiot, he just did what he needed for his family.  Skylar's more evil than all the characters combined.  what a bitch she's just like my mom when she yells at me to stop playing senran kagura.  i'm 39, I can make my own decisions  :maf

Can't wait to see what this all culminates in. They have so many little threads and characters established and dangling. The Kettlemans, the Cartel, Hamlin & co, Chuck. It's great to be back in this world.
