The first game was fun, but I have little desire to go back for more. I'll wait for next year's Steam sale.

game had me feeling extra flabby when i first played it, thinking, how can anyone beat this shit?  two years later i plantinumed it.

i like to think of each level like a small puzzle that is solved using extreme violence,

also if you like hard house / techno, and dope beats, the soundtrack is pretty fantastic

Each level, you are presented with a situation where you have to kill a floor full of dudes (or several floors), mostly in one go because if they see you or get near you, you're dead instantly.  You have lots of weapons and some environmental options to do this, so you can get creative.  When you pull off a plan, it's pretty awesome.

also, it's very surreal in presentation and has amazing music.

Excited and pre-ordered, but I just hope the huge success rockstar-status of the first game didn't go to his head so the second one becomes an ego-tastic Phil Fish affair.  As long as he just builds on what worked with enough new stuff to feel fresh it should be great.

Gonna save this for next month for some time in between Bloodborne sessions.

GOTY 2012's sequel :rejoice

And the dudes who worked on this game seem like down-to-earth people. I don't think they'll get too up their ass. I'm confident it's gonna be refinements and better versions of what the original was with a new "window" to see things through. Only controversial thing about this game was the rape scene a few years back that they ended up cutting/altering. I got the point they were trying to make, but...yeah, better off gone.

????

The rape is still there, I thought? It's in the digital comics they put on Steam. Which is the (original?) intended "it's only an act" film thing.

I guess we'll see. It'd be weird that the comic book they put on Steam includes it but they cut it out of the actual game.

Revelations 2 is pretty sweet.  I've put many hours into the first two chapters + Raid mode.  Not the most polished thing in the world, but addictive and fun and only $25.  The story is gonna get crazy this week.

holy fuck 11 hours?  i'm having fun, but I can see this dragging.

there is a lot more exposition and because of that, it seems less surreal and more like a roughly translated euro game. The first one left more to the imagination.

Don't. If you like the first, you'll dig this one.

The only negative I have is that the various characters could be mask abilities since they have that + the random character abilities (like the newspaper reporter) separated for the sake of story.

That PC Gamer review is the only low score like that, to my knowledge.  The PC version has some technical problems...get it on PS3/PS4/Vita.

The technical problems will be fixed. I really don't get why PC Gamer reviewed it so low besides "OMG THE SPACES ARE BIGGER SO I CAN BE SHOT OFF SCREEN!" It's not really MEANT to be a 20x combo (despite there being an achievement for that) murder-spree. You're supposed to think tactically and bait your opponents into doing what you want.

doors and corners are as cheap as ever

and i'm not sure what all this talk about having to use guns is all about.  i've only used melee and Tony so far in the first several hours.  Tony is OP as fuck.

There's only so much you can do with small confined spaces, these complex open spaces are fine.   Throw weapons at a guy you're locked on to and stfu ???

Indeed. But it's so weird (though good) that you can't pick up weapons with him due to them changing the masks to be individual characters.

The reporter is probably the most fun for me, because it wants a pacifist playstyle, unless you unlock the hidden Hulk mode of him. But that doesn't give you massive points like pacifism. So it becomes ballsy to beat the shit out of people with lead pipes to knock them out and then grab their guns to remove the ammo for 1000 points while dodging other guns and meleers.

This game is fucking glitchy.  Had one glitch early on that didn't matter (couldn't get into car in a cutscene), but I had a glitch after a LONG ASS SECOND PART OF A STAGE where I finally after like 50 attempts got it but I couldn't advance because a key item was stuck in a wall and I had to restart the whole thing.

Otherwise it seems cool except waaaaaay too many gun enemies right from the start.  Instead of being a stealthly game like the first one it seems more like a use doors/corners and guns game.  But yeah the glitching really sucks and I honestly don't want to play any more until there's at least a patch or two.

Playing it on PC fwiw and playing with a trackball mouse is as tough as ever.

Wow, this game is eight million times easier with a controller where you can snap in any direction you want vs a mouse.  Went through the entire original with KB+M, but then again I didn't use guns so I didn't have to aim; just smash.  Since HM2 is a lot more gun-shooting heavy, on a controller with click lock-on and snap directions the game is a lot more doable.

Pffft. Outside of certain situations, you don't need to use the guns. I've gotten to 12 or 13 so far just using melee with the occasional gun.

So what the fuck is going on with the lock on in the Hawaii level? The one where you have to scrounge for ammo crates? He won't let me free aim anymore, he just has a white reticle at some random spot on the map so I can't fucking look at guys and shoot. What the fuck is this game?

Consequently I could not lock onto dudes of my choosing either. Is this a glitch or is this game shit?

It's a glitch. Seems the QA team they hired didn't really test (or Gamemaker/"Gamebaker" that Dennaton uses is a Piece of Shit) some things so shit like going down a floor will get you stuck in walls and other such glitches happen. Restart the level or game, I'd say.

That aside: The game is awesome and on the level of Hotline Miami 1 for me. GAF's "eh, HM1 was better" people are kinda crazy.

Even before that I'm not liking the game as much. Too restrictive and the stages are too long and slow paced.

Oh and even when aiming isn't glitched it locks onto the wrong guy constantly and you can't peek far enough ahead for dudes who can snipe you. I played the first game again right after playing this one and it is definitely not as much of a problem there.

Oh and enemy gunners (which there are tons of compared to enemy melee guys) can see you from waaay further away than the first game.
