:( :(

Panels I'm attending:

Friday
1:30pm - Mega64 Panel For You To Bring Us Tim Tams At
4:00pm - Extra Credits
9:00pm - *Giant Bomb 2015 FY2015 Kickoff & PowerPoint Presentation

Saturday
11:00am - How To Make Your No-Budget Gaming Documentary
4:00pm - Making Video Sausage with Giant Bomb & GameSpot
7:00pm - The Cinemassacre / Angry Video Game Nerd Panel

Sunday
10:30am - More Video Game Wrestling Nonsense At… PAXAMANIA!
2:30pm - The Audacity of #Hype: Round 2 - Social Media Boogaloo

Funnily I ended up with an extra Saturday pass that I can't unload (long story.) So if anyone's in the area Saturday, hit me up.

As for the show floor, I'm hitting up Nintendo and Capcom's booths of course. Then Twitch, YouTube, Swery, the Indie Mega Booth, and wherever Dreadnought is (based on a friend's recommendation, I have no idea about the game itself.)

Should be fun even if there's about 5-6 less people I'm meeting up with this year.

*Probably will skip the GB panel even though it's always fun. The line is just so insane I'd need to get in line at 7 to even have a chance of getting a decent seat. That's like four+ hours and I want to go out for drinks with some friends.

Pics!

Even though I showed up an hour later than opening time (11), there was still quite a long line for security clearance (which they started doing last year.)

First on my agenda was the Mega64 panel at 1:30, so I got in line at noon. It paid off: I was in the second row right in the center for the projector (unfortunately, I couldn't see much of Garrett or Eric.) Really great panel (probably not their best, but still good) with the best audience Q&A I've seen yet. Some really funny stuff there and no awkward questions or deliveries like in past years.

8-player Smash in console freeplay!

Some Rock Band 4 green screen picture attraction thing in the lobby.

Descending into PAX.

The Nintendo booth (absent last year) had Codename: STEAM and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D running on the New Nintendo 3DS XLs, and a line for multiple Wii U kiosks running Splatoon.

The 3DS kiosks were busy, but there weren't lines.

Oh! And there was a kiosk for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.

Now THIS is what it's ALL ABOUT for me. More than half of Capcom's huge booth (also absent last year) was dedicated to Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, complete with five or six demo tents and a "Caravan Tour" with some exclusive merch.

Some people were playing the Capcom-provided demo units, but many others were just playing together with their own copies of the game.

The other big chunk of Capcom's booth was this more general Capcom store with merch for Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Okami, and others (plus Monster Hunter too, of course.)

I've wanted that meat pillow for years! Maybe I'll get it tomorrow.

Waiting in line for the Caravan Tour.

:D

"Extra Fancy"

I bought one of the Robo Felyne shirts in the bottom left of this pic (bad angle.)

They were sold out of the Rathalos shirts but said they'll have more tomorrow, so I'll check back then.

IRL Psychoserum!

Stickers!

The IRL Monster Hunter items were a fantastic touch. Looked appropriately aged and weathered too.

Most of the cool things in here weren't for sale, like this Rathalos bust.

IRL Mosswine!

The Insect Glaive!

The third shirt they had for sale was this other Felyne one, but I wasn't as interested.

IRL Mega Potion!

The heck is this?

YouTube had a booth!

One side of YouTube's booth was dedicated to this green screen picture thing, the other had an area for making custom YouTube dogtags and had multiple screens for YouTube channels.

I couldn't believe it when I saw SongbirdOcarina.com had a booth. I think I logged onto their website 13 years ago. Crazy blast from the past, I'm glad they're still around.

An indie episodic horror first-person shooter that happened to catch my eye.

Ended up skipping the Extra Credits and Giant Bomb panels and went home much earlier than I usually do (7.) Used the time to go grocery shopping which was probably the right call. Feels like fewer costumes this year. I'll be checking out individual booths and maybe playing some demos tomorrow if the lines aren't too crazy, otherwise I'll be hanging with some friends.

So happy Nintendo and Capcom are back. Nintendo's booth is kinda half-assed compared to 2012 and 2013 but I'm just glad they're here. Capcom went ALL OUT for MH4U. I thought the dedicated Monster Hunter booth for 2013 was awesome, but the Caravan Tour and multiple demo tents... I'm not sure that'll ever be topped for me. Absolutely amazing display by Capcom, bravo. (They didn't seem to have much playable otherwise though, but who gives a crap. MH is the only thing that matters.)

Got drunk on Saturday with a bunch of indie devs and wound up at a karaoke place in Chinatown belting out Runaways by The Killers, among other things.

Also got a pic with the AVGN, who signed my copy of his movie. :heart

Pics!

Start of day two! I went to some shop-booths.

I remember these figures! I remember the only comic shop I knew about had those GT import figures, which I wanted for some reason...

Repackaged NES games for $90!

I would have totally bought these Li'l Gotham figures if I was into figures whatsoever.

The Winged Dragon of Ra was pretty cool, too.

Insane Clown Posse?

Free paper Chocobo hats (didn't take one.)

Mega64 shirts! All of them had pretty amazing artwork. I ended up getting the one on the far left (gold "64.")

Shawn, Kevin, and Eric! Rocco came back shortly after I took this pic. Garrett was there too, but Derrick was at GDC earlier this week and couldn't make it.

I got that PAX-exclusive poster (context) signed by everyone who was there. :D

Amazing Skull Kid cosplay.

Capcom's merch store had some truly amazing and tempting items.

Not surprisingly, a lot of it sold out quickly.

Can't tell if the Okami stuff went fast or if they just didn't have much of it to begin with.

The Mario P&D seemed like an OK reskin. I really liked how they had their 3DS's set up, almost like a university with benches and desks.

I backed this game on Kickstarter over a year ago! It's crazy to see it here on the show floor.

Funimation had a booth. For... some reason...

Renegade Kid didn't do their own booth this year, but Xeodrifter's upcoming Steam port was still playable at Gambitious' booth. (Xeodrifter is also coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.)

Really looking forward to Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows!

I got in line an hour early, but apparently this was the second overflow room for the Cinemassacre / AVGN panel.

The Cinemassacre panel, aside from a teaser for more Board James episodes, was basically one long James & Mike Monday with multiple NES games and various audience members being asked to play.

End of day two!

Here's the day's haul. Mega64 gave me an extra poster AND that Deathadder mouse because they accidentally sold me the con-exclusive Blu-ray instead of the 10th Anniversary one (which I bought the next day.) Super cool guys, very personable and understanding.

Start of day three!

"Elite Dangerous" reminds of that stupid movie "Bangkok Dangerous."

Udon's booth had a ton of cool art books, as well as some "sexy" posters that I was too embarrassed to take a pic of.

There were a rotating set of convention sketch artists and the work seemed to be incredibly high quality for the price and speed.

Back at Capcom's store, still smitten with most of the items.

A Nintendo spokesman demoing Code Name: STEAM.

No one wants to play FFXIV? To be fair, most of the demos have no lines and few players on the last day of the show.

How much?

This Sephiroth is sending out mixed vibes.

I checked out this game, Chariot. The idea is that the king has died and you have to pull his casket with the help of a friend. It was highly physics-based.

Now THIS game looked sick as hell. Axiom Verge is a Metroidvania with ridiculously-detailed sprite art.

I have no idea how Adult Swim games continues to pump out small but high quality experiences, but they do. Rock on.

Another one of my favorites from the show floor: Tribute's Curses 'n Chaos. Stunning pixel graphics, too.

I shouldn't have been surprised, but after the show floor closed Capcom started packing up the Caravan Tour and demo tents. :(

After some dinner and drinks with friends, it was time to go home. It was actually super pleasant and I kinda wanted to just wander around, but I had groceries to buy.

End of day three, end of PAX East 2015!

i was surprised people hang out and play monster hunter there.  you're gonna waste an hour or two to do one mission in a game at a convention you paid out the ass to attend?

I think around 150 or so? Didn't end up completing that many puzzle pieces, but oh well. I get a couple hits every day on the T so it's not a big deal.

Then my job here is done. <3

Eh for most people in America conventions are the only place to do a four-player local quest. And they should really only take 20 minutes if the group is decent.

It's the only way to get local co-op stuff done, isn't it? 3DS version doesn't include online, does it?
