I'll play some later this week and give actual impressions. Reviews are pretty good for it.

and it seems to focus more on platforming over combat so that's good. but the metroidvania stuff also seems kinda light. might pick this up.

Played for maybe an hour and a half.

Very pretty game. Nice art style. Has a water color feel to everything.

Game reminds me of Dust: An Elysian Tail both a little in looks and obviously game type.

This game is much less goofy in tone than that game and more hippy earth mother Lion King kind of vibe. That may or may not appeal to some people although I'm alright with it.

It's also feels a little simpler than some other metroid-vania's although maybe it gets more tricky as it goes on.

I like it so far. I would describe it as a  metroid-vania  lite.

I'll maybe post again on it to see how it maintains when I reach the half-way point or beat it.

You know even though you're probably kidding, Microsoft is killing their indie sales because all of us know that any idea game will be on GWG within 6 months of release.

the platforming in this is super fun. it's got just the right amount of difficulty where it's challenging but not enough where it gets frustrating.

and my god it's super pretty

apparently the game locks you out of your save when you finish the game or something along those lines. basically if you're trying for 100% make sure you do it before you enter the final area.

Played for another hour and half or so. It's a legit good game. It's fun. It's relaxing in a weird way. It's never too difficult but there is still a bit of a challenge to making all the little jumps and such. I'm always curious to see what's around the next corner or in the next area. It's solid.

Indie is moving up to fill that mid tier hole left behind, but with healthy profit margins.

i don't really like the lengthy sequences that require you to play perfect and have near instant fail states then you have to replay the entire thing from the beginning.

I don't really mind it so much since you can save anywhere with those blue things.

not during those segments. there's three of them in the game and you have to complete them in one-go.

I am really not loving the grapple mechanic, especially when I need to ricochet some instant-kill orb with it.

I assume you're talking about the flood that happens at the end of the tree chapter that I just finished? I managed to do it on my first try but I missed a number of the yellow orbs and I could see that being super frustrating if you messed up a little bit.

That one wasn't that bad. It was pretty fun overall. I'm at the end of the game though and it's pretty frustrating.

This game kinda sucks. If I get killed by one more fucking projectile launched by an enemy that is hiding behind a foreground tree I'm gonna turn this shit off for good.

Finished it finally. Overall it's a really great game. Some of the latter sections get a bit frustrating but whatevs.
