A Army recruiter called me a few hours ago

"I-I speak English you know......and I go to Columbia Chicago"
"You from Colombia eh?"
"N-no I'm from Chicago and Columbia is the name of my university"

The servers at the Mexican place by work speak English to my white coworkers and Spanish to me and my Hispanic coworker, assuming we should know the language of our peoples. If I reply in English, they shame me and make me reply in Spanish.

I've noticed that if I go into a latino store after work in my work attire they'll speak English to me.
If I go into the same store when I'm in pjs or sweats they'll speak spanish to me.
It can be the same store and the same people.
Just sayin'.

Although I find it amusing when I'm in a latino store in work clothes and I ask for something from the latina clerk in Spanish, see the surprised look in her face then getting a sultry "Oh, hola." with a smile. I find it hard not to laugh. They're only interested because I look like a vato with money.
