Funnyman Dave Chappelle is solidifying 2015 as his comeback year with an upcoming stand up special on HBO.

Despite being on the road for two years performing a string of engagements, including last year’s sold out show at Radio City Music Hall, Chappelle hasn’t officially released new material since 2005’s For What It’s Worth. Thankfully, all of that is about to come to an end.

Comedyhype reports, the 41 year old filmed new material for fans at Austin’s ACL Live. While there’s no air date or title for the show, fans who attended the event gave Chappelle glowing reviews on Twitter.

Chappelle isn’t the only comic returning to the stage. Chris Tucker took to Facebook late last month to announce his Netflix special. Simply Titled Chris Tucker Live, the stand up will premiere July 10.

First Chris Tucker, now Chappelle, if Eddie Murphy does a stand up on Hulu or Cinemax, it’s a wrap for eery’body!

on the subject, my favorite chappelle show memory was in a dorm commons room drinking with a friend and some sorta-friends of his that I hadn't met until then. when the episode got to the wetback/distinguished black fellow skit one dude says something to the effect of 'well i'm glad there aren't any mexicans or black people in here' with a weird inflection and my friend just looking at me with quiet embarrassment and I just started laughing.

He did plenty of stand up shows where he left just because the crowd cheered for him in the beginning, and I'm pretty sure Biz went and saw a show of his only to say that it sucked and he's sad about it. This was a while ago.

Wasn't that before 2014 though? Last year he got his shit together, toured with Nas and The Roots, and seemed like his head was on his shoulders.

Oh, so that's why he did 6 shows in Austin this weekend. Now I don't feel so bad for missing it. Saw him a year(?) ago when he was touring with that Funny or Die comedy festival and he still had it.

He's doing some shows in Atlanta in a couple weeks; I missed out on getting tickets, tho

Supposedly the vast majority of people who saw his Radio City shows said they were awesome. I met Chappelle back in 2004-5ish at the airport and he was the most down to earth celebrity ever- hung out and talked about music and video games with us at our shop for like an hour during a layover. Seemed like a totally normal dude, and was really funny.
