What do you wear indoors
« on: April 28, 2015, 04:04:03 PM »
I wear socks but they're not good for walking on. Walking on socks is a great way to destroy them, basically.

Trouble with shoes is they make my feet sweat slightly. I let 'em breathe, yo. Wearing shoes indoors is weird.

Going completely barefoot isn't an option. Feet get cold.

Socks are no good.

Shoes are no good.

How the hell am I supposed to survive in the modern world.

I wear socks indoors and they last over a year. Wtf are you doing in your socks? :wtf

Also, they're fucking socks, if they burn out just buy some more.

Slippers strike me as uncomfortable. And they're probably unsightly when combined with socks.

They're like pillows for your feet. No one wears socks with slippers, that's fucked up.

Maybe, but I prefer to have some ventilation anyways. Sounds like you're a lost cause. :yeshrug

Wool socks solve those problems, snug n comfy in the summer.

My inside attire: sweat pants and a hoodie or shirt.

Get some Hausschuhe.

T-shirt, sweatpants (+sweat jacket in winter), the above. Comfy living.

I'm anti-shorts so some kind of pants and a tshirt. Barefoot unless I'm expecting company.

I’ve only ever heard these referred to as “uagutsu” before, but mine’s apparently a more generic term for any shoes designed for indoor-wear.

Since you seem to be a contrarian not interested in common sense, this option will be perfect for you:

I can't be barefoot indoors. Gotta have some socks on for maximum comfort.

I just put on those tiny footy socks. I have a ton of them and usually don't wear them anytime else.

Usually barefoot, slippers if my feet are cold. And bro, it doesn't matter what you do, your socks are slowly deteriorating from any sort of normal use, you will feel better if you just buy a few more pairs and let it go.

Surprised no one has mentioned slipper socks yet.

I guess this is the only route if breathable shoes aren't the answer.

When I'm at home (off campus) I wear slippers around the house.  In my apartment at school I put on an old pair of sneakers (no socks) when I'm making breakfast or dinner.  My bedroom is different though.  I like being barefoot in there no matter where I'm living.

Get these Nuknuuk slippers from Costco.

My mom had been getting me slippers for Xmas for a decade+, then would always buy me a new pair the next year as the previous one's had turned into tattered smelly messes. Last year she got me these and I was worried she might buy another pair has they had hung up so well and didn't really need replacement. (smart lady didn't, and had mentioned thinking they were too nice to replace when seeing them when I was back home  :( )

They might even hold out for another Xmas, can't recommend them enough. They even have a decent rubber sole so you can stroll outside with them if you're feeling especially subhuman.

edit:

cheaper, more comfy(haven't tried birkenstock slippers to be fair), less trendy birkenstocks. win, win, win.
