Quote
"Now, with freely available pornography, which is unique in history, they are combining playing video games, and as a break, watching on average, two hours of pornography a week."

Quote
Giving an example of the mindset of a gaming and pornography-addicted young man, he says: "When I'm in class, I'll wish I was playing World of Warcraft. When I'm with a girl, I'll wish I was watching pornography, because I'll never get rejected."

In all fairness who does want to be in class/work

Quote
Phillip Zimbardo is famous for the 1971 Stanford prison experiment, in which 24 students were asked to play the roles of 'guards' and 'prisoners' in a mock prison at Standford University. Intended to last for two weeks, the experiment was abandoned after six days, after the previously normal 'guards' became extremely sadistic and the 'prisoners' became submissive and depressed.

That two hours a week seems like a very, very, very low estimate

Zero substance article. Someone who plays video games up to 15 hours a day and doesn't think anything of it has a problem, news at eleven. Does he have a book coming out?

That two hours a week seems like a very, very, very low estimate
For videogames maybe, but not for porn I don't think. Who watches entire movies, or more than a handful of clips at a time?

These conditions are no different than they were 15 years ago. Games were just as addictive and porn was easy to find (thanks to p2p sharing networks).

Pretty sure there were TV shut-ins and book shut-ins too. Fuck, I bet some people joined monastic orders back when just to be respectable shut-ins. I think the isolation comes first, what you do to pass the time changes with the times.

Rob: What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to music?

The download speeds though  :stahp

Back then, you had to work for just a minute long clip of questionable quality.

Now you can download an entire movie or the the select scene you want in high definition in mere minutes.

Spending all that time to download a clip, but finding out it was just a renamed clip you already owned.

Playing partially downloaded clips just to find out if the tag cloud title was even remotely true.

New study finds that new good things are more entertaining than old bad things and old people are worried.

'Now, with freely available pornography, which is unique in history'  also everything new to a person in their 40's will always stay new.

I heard white kids used to find dirty mags out in the forest.
Like is this some kind of cac tradition, to nut over some old Hustler mag then leave it for the next generation to nut all over in some secluded place? I mean what happens when the kid at the end of the line gets that book and all the pages are stuck together?
