RIP BB King
« on: May 15, 2015, 04:27:04 AM »
King, known for his hits My Lucille, Sweet Little Angel and Rock Me Baby, died in his sleep in Las Vegas.
Born in Mississippi, King began performing in the 1940s, going on to influence a generation of musicians, and working with Eric Clapton and U2.

RIP Sweet Prince

Grew up listening to him playing in the kitchen when mom and pops were cooking.

Still will never figure out why he lowered himself and played with U2, those fucking scrubs.

I saw him live about 8 years ago and he looked pretty weak then. He still put on a great show. RIP

I met him through my guitar circles. It was one of those moments when you know that's a moment you'll be telling your grandkids about.
Guy was so down to earth and didn't give a fuck about who anyone was. Genuine through and through.
Not only was he a legend he was a good guy too. Which is more than I can say about a lot of famous guitarists.

Welp I might as well ask in this thread.

Anyone know any good acoustic blues albums.

It seems all blues artists went electric in the 60s or so.

Try Lead belly. You might dig on him.

A friend of mine who's played with him several times said he was so old school he would still insist on being paid in cash at most venues, so he'd be traveling with like 100 grand in a bag because of memories of shady promoters when he was coming up.

My only and best BB King moment was when he just started playing some guitar outside of a little bar in New Orleans randomly about 12 years ago. It was kinda epic to see.
