Ultimate General: Gettysburg

Any Boreans playing this? I've been playing it recently and have really enjoyed this take on a real time strategy. Unlike other Civil War games I've played, this one is pretty dynamic and quick. It does a good job of balancing casual play yet is still rewarding for players who want a little more deep strategy.

The AI is pretty good because you can select nine different types to play against ranging from cautious to balanced to determined. Unfortunately it's still a computer though and I've yet to be able to find someone online to play with.

I've read the game described as a mix between Rome Total War and Sid Meier's Gettysburg. It's fun enough that I wanted to more deeply understand the (accurate) terrain in the game and rewatched the 4 hour and a 11 minute 1993 film:

Loved Sid Meier's Gettysburg, one of the first non-FPSes I played online a bunch. It was also quick, no resource management or anything really, just historically accurate troop reinforcements and placements. Though I always played the full battle mode instead of the scenarios. And at the time it seemed like an insane number of on-screen troops.  :lol

It was easy as fuck as the Confederates though, you just had to not fuck up the first two encounters, which in real life they did. Especially if you ran a long flank with Early's troops when they arrived instead of using the road like the game (and history) told you to. (Since you had already prevented the Union advance into the town and the game always tried to flank you by heading north because of better cover. Which then put them right inbetween your two forces when Early arrived.)

Never actually played Antietam. Wouldn't mind those on GOG in a pack like Alpha Centauri. Steam is fine too.

I've been replaying the Pickett's Charge scenario in this and can't get it to go in my favor as Confederates. I know that if I can just outflank Chamberlain and throw enough men at his Mainers on Little Round Top, I might be able to turn the battle. Unfortunately to accomplish this I have to send Pickett's brigades and everyone else at the Union center over and over to prevent them from reinforcing the flank and predictably this ends in a massacre and horrible loss of morale and defeat. Just like real life. What was Lee thinking?
