Goddamn. I remember being so hyped, despite not liking the final season. I was like "The finale will be amazing just watch" and nope. It was a huge wet fucking fart.

only watched it if I was visiting friends who had a hard-on for watching it. Always thought it was an ass show, just like Heroes. Not very shocked that neither is remember very fondly, even by supposed fans.

Really the best way to describe it. It ultimately ended up being a bit of a failure, but fuck was this show fun to watch week to week. The hype was so strong. I don't know if I'll ever rewatch it but I still consider it one of my most memorable tv watching experiences.

Damon Lindelof deserves the reputation he has though, especially because apparently everything he's written since has been trashed.

If post-Lost Lindelof were just writing trash for his own intellectual properties that would be fine.  The fact that he has been collaborating with strong filmmakers only to degrade potentially great films is extremely frustrating.

That being said, Season 4 of Lost is one of my favorite seasons of television ever.  It was consistently excellent from start to finish.

Lost probably warped people's perspectives on what a finale should accomplish, and probably impacts how subsequent show finales have been viewed. I don't expect a final season or finale to wrap up everything that happened on the show - obviously some things should be left to speculation and debate. But the finale dealt didn't really give any actual closure hence why people end up listing a laundry list of things the show didn't wrap up.

Couple friends bailed early in S3, when the show started they were all excited because they speculated there were gonna turn out to be dinosaurs and cannibal tribes and monsters and shit, based on the first  few episodes. At the time I was all "It's still a good show without all that," but looking back I think "Man, I wish I'd been watching THAT show instead."

My favorite thing about the finale was when Jack tells the smoke monster Locke that he shouldn't call himself that because he doesn't deserve to have Locke's name, and then a few minutes later they're having a knife fight in the rain and Jack yells out "LOOOOOOCCCCKKKEEE!"

That's how lazy they were, they didn't even catch that.

I liked it. Still liked it now despite the ending not being great.

I guess for me I enjoyed it because I liked individual arcs. I never thought any of that stuff would pay off into some explainable thing or tightly conceived narrative.

I feel roughly the same about Ron Moore's BSG. I liked it because I enjoyed indivdual plotlines or characters. Not because it had any true narrative arc that was payed off at the end. Both shows ended dumb and were made up as they went along. I still enjoyed them both

the lore for this show was such trash. they spent years and years eking out random shit with fuck all resolution, and then season 6 came out and it was worse than the shittiest fanfic writer could ever churn out. I mean there was so much random stuff in there, and the best you can do is that sibling rivalry shit that was never even hinted at? just mind-blowingly shit. even the worst of the worst jrpg story is better.

I thought Season 5 and 6 were fucking awful, but thought the finale itself wasn't bad. I haven't watched it since it aired so it might be worse than I remember.

The show runners can fuck off for telling all the fans think they had it all planned out and were leaving clues when they made it up as they went and littered the show with red hearings.

They never should've explained Richard, and Jacob should've stayed in the periphery. Dude was cool in season 3, because he was shrouded in mystery. The worst part of Lost wasn't the questions, but the answers. Shit was so dumb.

The weird thing is they vehemently claim that they had the ending planned since the start, as a rebuttal to everyone saying they were making things up as they went along. So basically they had six years to come up with something better than the Jacob and MIB Across the Sea bullshit and couldn't.

Its so weird that the show became less grounded and flew off the rails after they got a guaranteed number of episodes to produce after season 3.

I peaced out after the island moved. Not because an island moving is stupid, but because they SHOWED it happening. Even with top notch CGI that is some goofy shit. The fact that they showed it told me that these niccas lost the plot.

"We have to move the island" was one of the best cliffhangers tho. I was like...wat. I couldn't comprehend what was just said.

By season 4 popularity had waned. I mean...people still watched and it was still a big deal to fans but it wasn't getting 22 million views, ya know? It wasn't as zeitgeist-y at that point.
