If I'm playing something along the lines of BG2, DA, etc I usually go with a warrior type. If I'm playing an arpg like D3, I usually like to go with whatever magic using class they have, because burning things.

I'm actually a painfully boring person, so I default to warrior types. They work and are easy to get into. Then I hate myself halfway through because of how boring it is. Though that depends on the type of game.

Rogue > Mage > Warrior has always been my preference, but lately I've started playing them in the reverse order so I can get a good feel for the combat system before I do anything else. In the Quest for Glory series you have far better puzzles if you roll mage or thief.

In W3 I'm aiming for the warrior mutation that makes your Signs hit like they're fully upgraded if you have three stocks of adrenaline.

wish they'd get better treatment. Especially since in fantasy literature they're usually god mode status.

You should play Lichdom: Battlemage. It's more of an FPS in the way it's set up, but you play as a mage that get's progressively more powerful spells to wreck monsters with.

Wizards just read from a book or some

shyt. Grats on killing mobs at a third grade level, mabufu.

Rogues, oh the crunch you must engage in, the dice rolls that have to go your way for the maxed crits. Perfection.

Whichever class has the most toys to play with. Usually that's magic since most RPGs have boring mêlée combat.

#NotAllWarriors. It's the medieval plate wearing clumsy brutes that sully the good name of the class. Give me your fancy dans; your blademasters, your monks, your duelists, your men of gambesons and little armor.

If we're getting really niche my favorite kind of class is something like Guild Wars' mesmer, but that's a class that doesn't show up very often because it's hard to design something that's literally nothing but trolling in a manner that isn't utterly irritating or useless (looking at your status ailments, Final Fantasy).

I never played Guild Wars 2, but iirc they actually changed this class substantially while retaining the name, just to demonstrate how doomed its existence is.

As for roleplaying, consider that irl I don't like being the center of attention.

Only thing to worry with rogues is because they're very skill and passive dependent they might not be great until you're a third of the way through a game already. Pillars kinda felt like this to me (on the six or eight hours i played at least).

Yeah, the rogue in Dungeon Siege 3 was agonizing for the first 30% of the game. Good thing she was a not-Roma Roma waifu, which is another benefit to playing the rogue in games that can't be assed to allow you to customize gender and appearance.

I knew what you meant, because Mages are usually the most ability dependent classes. If you're super into the macroing and active style of play and stat micromanagement Mages are the best for sure.

I'm just saying that IMO, Mages usually have an underwhelming appearance/loot. I rarely find a piece of early/mid game mage cloth or staff that has me ymmv of course

It's all about endgame

PoE is pretty amazing when you remember that it's F2P and somehow has managed to avoid P2W status. I'm really eager to try the new expansion/whatever and see if the desync fix actually improves things.

Also, apparently there's a new Grim Dawn build out and most of Act 3 is in there. Game keeps getting better. Living in the ARPG golden age, brehs.

Looks like it completely eliminated it, going by streamers and Reddit. Now you might get rubberbanding with very high ping instead, but they're adding more server locations alongside lockstep mode, so things are looking good.

I do it because on the next playthrough I'll pick one of the other classes after I learn the ropes of the game.

I think Borderlands is the last game I played at least halfway through with a second class. And half of that was because I was doing it co-op before the person bailed out.

The DEX blonde pixie char is pretty fun, I'm already dual wielding short blades, using poisons, and dropping pseudo-crits with dual strike.

I like that Wraeclast is so grimdark that the cannibals live in peace with the zombies and the skeletons.

In CRPGs I'm all about the bonk-bonk-bonk of a Fighter/Warrior.

In tabletop stuff, I'm usually about the Rogue-ing. Or, in the typically misspelled parlance of my countrymen: Rouging.

Nothing like getting more damage from your bonus than from the weapon itself: MAD SKILLZ.

I usually gravitate to some kind of Warrior/Healer hybrid. It's dummy-proof.
