any slang that is disproportionately overused by internet nerds who don't have enough rl interactions to keep up with new slang. kinda like how I still see ppl here using "salt."

also not a word but word-related:

-when ppl act like certain slang is beneath them. dude, you're a fucking dork; chill out.
-attempting to use any slang ironically as a shitty attempt at humor. we get it; you're a loser.

i crib slang from the-coli shamelessly. it annoys my peers; therefore, it serves its purpose. satisfying the cultural validation needs of you half-pinched social turdlings? naw, sons.

Whenever someone says arbitrage I substitute arbitrage for sabotage and sing the chorus to the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" in my head. It's very 90s and anti-Semitic.

hype.

Yes. Fuck hype.

Hype imo is basically people desperately trying to validate their poor investment in a particular thing. Waste years of your life following some silly sport? Well, drooling on yourself to a broadcast of Sportcenter's 24/7 dicksucking of Next Big Thing / Ultimate Disappointment will surely ease the pain. Poured thousands of dollars that you've earned through back breaking and/or soul sucking labor into videogames aka dumb toys for babies? Well, surely the upcoming, extra shiny game will be the one to finally fill the void inside. But only if you truly feel the hype for it.

But hey, I guess that's just life...trying to give meaning to the meaningless...  :larry

This thread is little more than "I hate them young folks."

Really disappointed in dearth of truly loathsome words here. I gave y'all effing cloacal and you bring me "salt" and "hype" in return? :iface

we don't have to single out words like that because anyone who talks like that is going to be painful to listen to, regardless of what they're saying :bolo

Serious answer:  distinguished mentally-challenged fellow(ed)

It's an archaic word to mean mental disabilities and it's used as a sweeping term for anything stupid, careless, or incompetent.  Having a nephew with cerebral palsy has made me very conscious to how poorly used the word is.  I won't go on a crusade to end it, and certain comedic context is fine by me, but I cringe every time I hear it now.  Just makes me uncomfortable.

Same.  Worked with people with disabilities and have a cousin with down syndrome.   It works well in some comedic contexts but most of the time when I hear it I think 'well that person is a shit head'.

Funk: It just grosses me out, makes me think of bacteria growing rampant in a corner somewhere.

Come: The child in me will always think of "cum". I can't come = I can't cum, come here = cum here.

Hyperbole: Don't dislike the word, dislike how its pronounced. To me it'll always be hyper-bowl.

OH!
