Dusty was one of those dudes that had so much scar tissue on his forehead, he would start gushing if you just grazed him. Made for some amazing magazine covers.

I always preferred my wrestling guys to be real people which is why as a kid that NWA stuff appealed to me. It didn't matter that dusty looked like shit. He looked and sounded real to me. Compared to the WWE stuff which seemed so comic book hero like.

As the WWE was stampeding over the NWA, I always felt a little sad, because it felt like we were losing something.

Yeah, my mom was a fan of him and she doesn't like any wrestlers but she liked him.

He didn't come across as a southern white male of that era who had contempt for black people which was very common.
