My nephews and nieces would pee themselves for this. Cool tech.

Your nephews and nieces need to learn to contain their excitement and learn e3 hype is a farce.

Ugh, for Gears to come back a lot of new shit needed to be added. This looks like a Gears sequel on 360. Wholly underwhelming.

Gears needed a new setting, tons of new mobility options like thrusting and jet packing, revamped animations, different fucking guns at least.

Did they purposefully demo this dark area so the game doesn't look like a 360 game as much?

I think the thing about gears that are fun are generally the more dynamic large scale battles and I think those are hard to show case.  This dark area just reminded me of the one are from the first game the the island area from the last one.

Someone tell me about the new controller.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/06/microsoft-unveils-new-xbox-one-elite-controller-and-weve-held-it/

in short, you can swap analog sticks and d-pad.  all buttons remappable.  four optional paddles on the back for pinkie/ring finger.  switches to make triggers buttons, less throw.

Yeah, I missed some of it, but what I saw was cool. Neat new controller, finally some games, and digital BC without having to buy shit over again (we'll see how limited the library is, though). The BC thing is a pretty big deal as far as making that console an attractive choice, Sony  :ufup with throwing all their eggs in that $7 PS Now rental basket.

I would have thought people would be making a bigger deal at the fact they just casually announced they now have a partnership with Valve for VR and AR and the Vive will work with the Bone Steaming they showed at the Oculus conference as well. Gabe must be loving it post Windows 8 that Microsoft's kissing his feet and even saying they know Steam will still be the predominant gaming platform on Win 10 even if MS make a store. Slow death of Steam OS awaits (The year of Linux got delayed again). I'll imagine we will hear more at the PC gaming conference but that was unimaginable before.

Still. Kinda solid if not spectacular. Gears with a Survival Horror aspect might be cool. That new Rare game is actually neat considering the hard on people had for the boat sections in AC IV and Rare Replay is like Taito Legends 2 levels of good for a retro collection.

That backwards compatibility announcement though. Social Media blew the fuck up. Saw a bunch of people on my facebook saying they were picking up their own boners soon since that pushed them over the edge. That announcement was straight raw, no condom.

Shame the approval stuff means some licensed games won't make it over. Though I saw a bunch of devs saying they are immediately starting approval. Ed Boon announced MK9 and Injustice were being put through approval now, for example. So I'd imagine we'll see a library build up before they do the official launch at the end of the year.

Also both Viva Pinata's :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice :rejoice

I liked 360 for the better performing multiplats and Japanese exclusives (NG2, NG Black, Ace Combat 6, and a bunch of JRPGs). I'm not seeing that support this gen besides Scalebound. Never been into the halogearsforzafable train although I think I bought a Fable game once on a steam sale (lol).

Anyway, wasn't MS recently talking up a big game about how they're going to support Windows/PC gaming more? Was that just the same empty song and dance they do every year?

Being able to play Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One is huge, since like...my Xbox 360 disc drive broke ages ago and I don't feel like buying a new 360

I know that not every game I want to play will be playable on it, but hey, it's better than nothing

As if that was ever going to happen. Even if MS didn't kowtow to Valve, Linux gaming would never take off with the amount of devs that don't do Linux ports.
