I put 300 hours (yup) into Lead & Gold, their first game. I'm tentatively excited.

Real talk: I'm glad Fantasy Battle has been getting some vidcon love after WAR bomba'd. Shit is a hot mess with End Times, but Games Workshop seems a lot less protective of the IP so we get cool niche stuff like this, Mordheim (which also has Skaven!), and the Blood Bowl games. Meanwhile Gorka Morka and Necromunda languish in an Inquisitorial dungeon. :shaq2 A Telltale Games Commissar Cain game. :lawd

This looks visually dark, which is not bad -- esp. for the license -- by I always worry when I have a hard time seeing what's going on in preview footage.

I'd also rather play a Necromunda game. I ran Van Saar when I played, but enjoyed making all the overwrought scenery even more than actually playing. Running around a modularly created rogue-like would be so sweeeeeet.

One other fun fact: GW is probably much more open to license use these days, due to WarCraft originally being pitched to them by Blizzard as a licensed product, and GW said, "Naw. We're not into that right now."

 :neogaf

Also: Can we get a topic name change so it has Warhammer in it? Or Games Workshop?

Gods of the Warp I can only imagine what inane shit Blizzard would have done. WAR had to be erased from canon.

I think they've come to realize that the nature of their IP doesn't lend itself to input intensive games an exclusive license would necessitate. (See: Space Marine) Smaller projects like Spacey Hulk Ascension are perfect for them.

What is "WAR" when it's in all-caps like that?

It's funny; I get really incensed when people talk about Games Workshop ripping off Blizzard's aesthetic.

I figured they were more open to licensed games these days because ppl eat even the bar stuff up? I'm thinking about that awful RTS from a few years back. Mark of Chaos iirc. The relic games were dope even if towards the end they just started really milking it (most of the DoW expansions and that last DoW2 expansion were really weak).

Retribution had both the return of playable Eliphas AND Kaptin Bluddflagg. :bolo

WAR was the Fantasy Battle MMO that failed miserably.

Oct. 23rd release date. I was in closed beta. Game is good, hard too. Got to try Witch hunter and elf lady. Bright wizard had the best dialog.

Do you have to play in a group with other human players? With my schedule and time zone it would be easier to play it by myself.

I think they're are bots? The little I played relied heavily on teamwork though.

Theres a room in the grey wizard tower that looks completely different based on the character you're playing.

Elf sees  forest clearing/swamp
Witch hunter sees a dungeon complete with pyre
Dwarf sees a room full of gold
Bright Wizard seems some kind of park/part of a city glowing orange. Everything on fire  :-* :-* :-*

Got this yesterday. The voice actor for the Witch Hunter performs in tons of Warhammer 40K audio dramas so naturally that's the hero I tend to play with even though he's kind of shit in public matchmaking due to needing ammunition to be effective. (The knight is probably the best pub hero imo.)

Funny how mechanically similar to Left 4 Dead this is and how you don't really notice unless you think about it. Also funny how this whole game was just a multiplayer mode in Space Marine. :'(

Game looks WAY to good for Warhammer, btw.
